N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

That's a great idea, Debi. My son was the only one that shipped out from New Orleans MEPS on 2-21. But, we were told that about 20 others shipped out on 2-20. If any of those moms are on here, let's see how far away we are from each other....maybe we can meet too.

Okay..on another note..I'm just curious if there are any other Mom's on here whose kids shipped from the Milwaukee MEPS station on 2/19. There were 10 in that group(including my son) and was hoping we could meet up. Inbox me if you are on here! Thanks!!!

Momofsix, GL is due to get hit with up to 9 inches of snow today. The storm was supposed to track further north but instead is headed directly at the Chicago area. I just giggle at the thought of my  SR having to shovel again and again..since we only had 2 or 3 shoveling snows before he left and now we've had tons! lol poor kid can't win!

thank you drewsmom. when was your PIR? yes, I'm hoping April is warmer. I'm in Utah and dreaming of warmer weather right now. Although today isn't so bad. then i noticed in Chicago it's snowing!!!

Hi momofsix, most folks at my son's PIR did dress nice, it's a pretty special day, but whatever seems best to you. They don't check you at the door :) The most important thing, from talking to several other moms while I was there, is wear shoes good for walking! I can't tell you how many moms said they wished they hadn't worn heels (and the ones in skirts and hose were SHIVERING in January, maybe April will be warmer but I just wanted to pass that on!) You all have got me thinking about my son's graduation,  I so wish I could go see my future-DIL graduate, it's such a special day!

yes, i would love one of the ribbons. let me know what you need. is each "ship" going to wear a different color that day also??? and is it Sunday dress to the PIR? does anyone know?

Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons As a quilter/ embroiderer, I understand the power of ones own creative power.  I say (and who am I really, no one). We leave the design up to you.  I think the gold lettering and backing ribbon would be great !  Wishing you all the best with your baby shower !

FYI I just booked with the Navy lodge.  Hope I made the right decision.

Have a great afternoon all!

Thanks so much for all the very sweet comments about my ribbons and other items. I am happy to make the ribbons for you all and anything else you would like. Let me know what you guys are wanting and I am sure I can come up with something :) The letters for the ribbons don't come in yellow but they do come in gold which is beautiful. Maybe a bright yellow ribbon behind the navy ribbon? I am sure I can do something wonderful for all of you :)

Good morning everyone, I hope you all are having a great week so far. My Sailors are coming home this week and we are having a baby shower. this will be the only time they can come home before the baby is born so the shower is a little earlier than normal but I am super excited. I will try and post a pic of all the goodies I am making for my new grand daughter :) Have I said how excited I am? lol
