Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

bonniep. I don't know where your SR will be going to A School. If he is staying in GL you will have all weekend. If he is flying out for school, you will have Friday after PIR, and you can go to the airport on Sat and spend time with them before they leave.

anyone know how to find GOOD cheap airline tickets??? And will we get to spend time with our SR on Saturday after the PIR?

You can call Sarge (or send him a text to call you) or send him and email. He will not answer blocked numbers, so if you do have your phone number blocked make sure you take that option off when calling him.

Josh's mom, What "services" are you looking for? Sarge runs a taxi service and does one of the meet and greets. He has special rates for airport, PIR etc.

WE missed the call......AIYEEEE! Hubby has had it surgically attached to him for the past 2 weeks. We were fixing the dryer and put it down, then went upstairs for parts.....AND THATS WHEN HE CALLED! TWICE! He did leave a message. Sounded kinda tired. Hubby is a mess again. He did say he has gotten our letters and sent a bunch out today. So now we will haunt the mailman!

@ Diannep, No , I am the only one he would send it to. He actually said he sent it to me. It may have got lost? The recruiter told me he would call me today with his address. I am a bit peeved. The plane tickets were $59 each way x 2 last week, but since I didn't get the date I just bought them $161 each way X 2. Big difference ! I think the recruiter really doesn't know what he is talking about.

You can overnight them...not sure he will get them much faster though. The mailroom at RTC is very small with only 2-3 people working it (and RTC has about 5,000 SRs on it!)...so it takes them a while to sort through everything....but it may be worth a try!
