OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Diannep, our recruiter told me they may be rolled up. He said that's usually because they are rushing them through processing. I expected it, but it still made me cry. Of course, nearly everything makes me cry these days. Does anyone else feel like it's still not real...that our kids are gone...for a really long time? I finally cleaned his room last night and sobbed like a baby!!

Cocomo, my son is in your son's ship and division. got my box today, hope you will get yours very soon. He has been gone a week. Things have come much quicker than i expected. May be his call will come sooner rather than later! :)

TJCsMom:  Jeans are rolled up because they measure on a computer for their boots!  Sometimes just one leg is and it confuses many moms!

At Monica newnavymom I have the same problem. My parents are going too. They have to stay at the hotel until after graduation. That's one of the reason why we chose the motel that is only a mile away....
Debi I want to go to a meet and greet but I don't know if I will make it to chiacgo by then. Colomo is the same as you.....

Ok. First looking for sr moms with srs in ship 3 div 153. Second I made our reservations for the Ramada. They have a meet and greet there and the Sundance saloon is only 2.5 miles away. We are definiitely going to do Sarge's meet and greet.
