N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good afternoon everyone !!! Thanks for the great gift ideas.  Has anyone heard yet how DIV 923 did in the Captain's Cup ?

Comment by diannep on April 14, 2013 at 1:39pm

...I should add that sometimes just you all being there incurring the cost of your trip up to PIR is "gift enough" for your sailors!  They are so grateful to have family/friends there!

Comment by diannep on April 14, 2013 at 1:38pm

On the watches as grad gifts, they can have black and/or silver.  No gold (for officers).

Just remember that whatever you get them, if flying out, they have to be able to carry it with them.  Keep in mind that they have their large seabag and garment bag (uniforms) that will be checked, and their backpack to carry on---so it would be best if what you give them can fit in one of those.  Some of you may want to shop with your new sailor after PIR and let him/her pick out what he/she wants.  Others may be like Josh'sMom and want to wait to see what your sailor needs at A School.  Money or a giftcard (you can even get them a NEX giftcard) is always a good idea!

Ohh ohh only 5 days until we hug the stuffin out of our sailors!! For those still waiting for the I'm a sailor call I have faith that you will get it. The RDC's will NOT let your SR fail at this point! They may get a lot of "motivational talk" to get them through it but they will get through it! HUGS to you all!!!

Tinkerbell I got my SR a G shock watch. Its a military watch its waterproof and all kinds of stuff but they can only have black. Google them if you like. You can get them on base also for cheaper than google if you want to see if hyiur SR would want one.

Tinkerbell,
Since I'm not sure of how much storage room he will have and all he has to pack to travel with to A school, I plan to give my son money to cover the cost of pictures and other stuff he had to purchase. Once he gets to A school we will see what else he needs. I also got the challenge coins.
