Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My son will not be leaving BC for A school until Monday. I will be flying back home Sunday. Does anyone know if I will be able to give him his phone, IPad and other things I have for him before I leave? I had planned to meet him at the airport when we thought he would be leaving Saturday morning. Now I don't know how to get him his things.

AndrewB/Mom, Like diannep said he will get another chance on Wed, sometimes the RDCs don't tell them that hoping to put a little extra umph behind them on Monday.
Those who go through BS the night before have been awake for more than 24 hours by the time PIR rolls around. They usually don't participate because they will be the ones the body snatchers are catching during the ceremony. :)
You might get another phone call on Monday of Tuesday if he has not passed, but I am certain he will have plenty of cheerleaders cheering him on, the RDCs want him to make it. I would give the PAO a phone call on Tuesday afternoon, if you haven't heard anything, and ask them if your son is still on schedule for graduation on Friday. They will give you a heads up, although they can't tell you very much.

Hi Diannep- Thanks for the info-what happens if he does not pass the run Mon am does he get to run Wed am again? than if he passes it he will go the night before? I am suppose to leave thurs am? How will I know to go or not?

AndrewB/Mom: Guess what? He also gets to try on Wed if he needs to. Yes, he would miss BattleStations with his group, but no worries. He would go with the BattleStations group on Thurs night (yep, night before PIR) and would then be there...a bit tired and in the balcony most likely, but there.
Of course, this is all IF he doesn't pass on Monday...which we are praying he does so he can be with his division for BattleStations. But he has the other chance to pass if he needs it!

Thanks for everyone's prays! My Sr needs it bad-just 2nd call because they can hang out for an hour more!! Got 2 calls and 2 pep talks-please he has to pass run mon am or he gets setback and does not graduate Friday!! BOO HOO! I just keep praying!
