OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Oh, one more thing.  Those in 151-154 be checking their FB accounts since sometimes they get on the computers before they get a chance to call!

Comment by diannep on April 12, 2013 at 2:45pm

boompa: Yep, and they have hand sanitizer everywhere trying to "quell" the germs....just too many of them up there!  Way too much togetherness!  :-)  Glad he is better now.

Ladies, remember to ask if all in the division passed and post that info.  Some may have "watch" and can't call today.  For any who didn't pass, they go again and should pass.  So no worries!

Marti:  I personally recommend Giordanos.  I eat there almost everytime I am in Chicago.  We get the stuffed pizza which can take about 45 minutes to prepare but is well worth the weight.  You can look at their locations and menus online.

Waiting patiently for the phone call. I'm at work, but all things will cease when that phone rings...

Thanks Diane, yes he is better.  He said it only lasted 24 hours.  Every letter I wrote, "Wash! Wash! those hands.  but those pesky germs find a way. lol  Hope all the other SR's are better too.

Comment by Debi on April 12, 2013 at 1:11pm

Phone charged and within 6 inches of my hands at all times. List of questions written and ready to be asked (all those things he has not answered me after numerous times of asking..I need to work on his communication skills!) Eyes glued to the clock..why does it move so slowly?

I absolutely cannot wait for next Friday. By this time we will have our SAILOR in our hands to keep until he has to be back to RTC.

Comment by Tinkerbell on April 12, 2013 at 10:57am

Woohoo! This time next week we will be sitting in the Graduation Hall waiting to see our Sailors! TGIF! Have a great one everybody!

Martie:  If you are not getting the rental car insurance, but rather using your own personal, have both the rental agreement and your personal insurance card.
