For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Those sailors flying out the day after PIR will be bussed to the airports in the early hours on Saturday. Takes a while to process them all in with their luggage, etc....they then will be hanging out in the USOs at the airports. You can meet up with your sailors at the airports, pass off personal items to them, and obtain an airlines gate pass (have ID with you) to wait at the gate until their planes depart.
Liberty for these sailors will start after PIR concludes, and they will have to be back on RTC that night, probably around 8 or 9 pm (they will know!).
PDA rules are pretty simple. In the PIR Hall, you can hug/kiss your sailor, but don't overdo it! Your sailor may tense a bit as they are well aware of PDA rules. However, they are a little more lax about the rules while in PIR Hall.
However, when you exit the Hall, no kissing, hugging, etc....no holding hands/arms around each other. You can take the crook of the left arm of your sailor as you walk, leaving your sailor's right arm available to salute at any time. Believe me, your sailors will be well versed on these rules and will tell you! :_)

Not sure how many of you are on FB.
So sorry for the repeated message ahead of time. :)
Just got a letter from my SR. Div 923 is doing Awesome. They won an Athletic flag 5.0'd the PFA. Then they earned a flag for drill inspection and a pennant. Se said to look for pictures on FB this weekend, as they will perform the first time. She also said they will have a surprise for the 923 parents

This scripture is so appropriate for the Battlestations that your SRs will be going through soon. Perhaps you can share with your SR in a letter now.
