Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hi ellen0502!!

Lourdes,

The Holiday Inn Express in Libertyville is just a little further away from RTC.  The Holiday Day Inn Express in Waukegan/Gurnee is very close to the Meet & Greet that takes place the night before PIR.  Very fun, informational, family/kid friendly with free food.  It's at the Sundance Saloon, which is closed to the public for this Navy family only event~~  RSVP in the Events section on the lower left of this page, so Sarge can plan for the food~~

The Waukegan/Gurnee one is 10 mins away from RTC.

Got the letter and the box! Ship 12 Div 159. I've already been writing letters so I sent them out first thing this morning. I haven't received a phone call yet other than I'm here. I can't wait til I get one. Maybe this weekend I'm hoping! We booked candle wood suites a sap. I've heard it was a nice place. I love reading everyone's comments. It makes me feel better. I pray everyday for everyone to be successful and to stay healthy and happy!

Hey there, ellen!  Glad to see you back on here!  :-)

Sarge's shuttle service and the local area one (both taxi services operating as shuttles that morning) service many of the hotels in the area for PIR morning.  I believe they are still charging $3/pp each way to to go PIR.  If your sailor rides with you from PIR (only those flying out, those staying in GL for A School move over there shortly after PIR is over and you pick them up later in the afternoon over there)....normally they ride for free.

Lourdes: See my post below about checking out hotels on TripAdvisor.com for reviews.  Most of these reviews come from Navy families.
