~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

PeaCoatMama: Midway to RTC is over an hour with no traffic, can be much longer with traffic. It is the furthest airport of the 3....OHare, Midway, Milwaukee.
I just hope he doesn't leave late Friday/early Saturday morning. Our SR won't know until that day when they get their traveling orders. Just FYI...make sure you charge their cell phones when you give it to them when they leave for A school. LOL!!!
my3luv1: They don't leave on PIR day (but can be bussed later that night in the wee hours to the airport) so you will have Friday after PIR with your sailor for sure!
Lainey: We have heard that Ramada is not in a very good area to walk in. I would check out Navy Lodge, Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Holiday Inn Express or Residence Inn instead. Safer areas. One of the ladies who works at the A School up there warned our groups a few years back that the area where Ramada is located is not too safe...others have stayed there and said it was ok. But if I were you, I would play it safe. Springhill Suites and Courtyard are by a big Walmart shopping center with restaurants, etc in it. Also, very close to Sarge's MeetandGreet held for you all the night before PIR.
You could go ahead and book your flights if you book on Southwest Airlines into either Milwaukee WI (45 min to RTC) or Chicago-Midway (hour+ to RTC). No change fee if you have to change, 2 bags check for free. Check out their one- way specials to see if two one -ways would be cheaper for you. They change those so not sure what is on right now.
Remember, you can use Sarge's shuttle from most hotels.
Welcome NavyMomCindy!
My3luv1 That is also what I heard but then was told that I could book with Southwest and they do not charge to change your flight they only charge the difference so I went ahead and booked. Most hotels in the area will show how far rthe hotel is from the Recruit Command Center
That is waht I did as weel not flying out untill Sunday even though I heard most of those that have A school out of town leave the day after PIR
We have reservation till Sunday. We played it safe not knowing when our SR will be leaving for A school. I hoping he doesn't leave until Saturday so we can spend good quality time with him.
LisaRSB and my3luv1 I am arriving at the Navy Lodge on the 24th alos flying in and renting a car to drive to the Navy Lodge. How long are you staying?
