OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

should get a call around week 3 or 4, calls are not guaranteed and if they are on watch when they happen they lose out on them, some will get more than 3 calls home during bc and some will only get 2.  Calls depend on many things.  If you miss a call do not call the number back as it is used by many people and it may be answered by the wrong person, when my other son was in bc 2 years ago a mom called the number back and talked to the RDC and he gave her son grief about it for several days

Anyone from Ship 03 Division 163 receive any calls?  I havent received one, hoping for one tomorrow.

I also got a phone call from my son today! Happiest day!!! He was also able to talk to his father and talk his sister in Los Angeles!   Everyone was happy to hear from him!!! Happy to hear his voice and hear his stories, that he is doing good, eating well and passed his swim test! He is happy with his decision, which also makes us happy.  Just glad to hear he is doing good and he was excited and proud to receive his uniform and dog tags! We are very proud of him!! Miss him so much, can't wait to see him next month!!

Roxy Marie so happy for you!!!  What time did he call? I haven't gotten a call yet and I want to hear his voice so bad. I wonder how they determine who gets to call? I pray he doesn't call when I am at work-I am not allowed to have my cellphone on in the classroom while I am teaching-Ugh! How did he sound to you? I know you must be on cloud nine!!!

Before my son left, I bought him a small calendar planner, the type I like to carry in my purse. I entered all the addresses/phone numbers he wanted and I printed off wallet sized photos of his special people/things and inserted them into the clear plastic cover, front, back, and inside of the front and back as a sort of collage. Also put band-aids in there. The recruiter said it would be up to RTC if he got to keep it; when I got his box it was NOT in there!

Such a great day!  I got 2 calls from my son today!  He is doing great...a little bit teary because he's homesick but so glad he made the choice to join the Navy.  He said the proudest moment so far is when he put on his uniform with his name on it!    And the next best was getting his dog tags.  I got to hear all the good stories...he's eating well, getting some sleep, passed his swim test and has a great attitude!  I am so proud and excited for him!

Hi ladies!:)  I can feel the excitement of this group since most have received "the box" and form letter.  It is so nice to finally get that address and I'm sure many letters to SR's have been mailed.  I know I couldn't get mine mailed quick enough!  I have made contact with a few mothers who's son are in ship 03 div 164 but was just wondering if there is anyone else out there that I've missed.  It's my understanding that division 163 & 164 are brother divisions.  What exactly do they share?  Love meeting all of you but it is so nice to know a mother who's son may be your sons rackmate.

Hey all, I'm Craig, one of the group admin here.  I'm a retired Navy guy, and my entire family is Navy (except one traitor US Air Force daughter ~ha).

In the 8 short weeks you will be here on this PIR group you will learn a lot.  You will be just like your sailor.  So we need to keep you on the same level as your sailor so you will know what the heck they are talking about....

So, just to baseline where your knowledge is, I want you to take this quick 10 question test.  I will give other test throughout your stay here, an at the end we will see how well you have learned....

Here is your test....

~ Your 1st Navy Test ~ Your sailor is learning, so shall you!

Again, welcome aboard.....
