N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Yes, Kim, I think so!  Navy Lodge is very accommodating!

We are going to the meet and greet Thursday......do u think the naval lodge would be better than red roof in?

RefuseToSink:  He will receive them, but remember, the mail is held from them for about 2 weeks for training of their Recruit Mail Petty Officer.  They can't write during this time either (other than the form letter with their contact info).  The form letters take different amounts of time to receive.  Those divisions that fill up last will have their form letters take the longest.  The Navy's motto:  Hurry up and....WAIT!  :-)  Go on the no news is GOOD news theory!

Yayy! I got my first letter today! My husband is in ship 3 div 163! Time to send all the letters i have stacked up! Thanks everyone for all the information, this site is really helping me cope!

Well I am a bit nervous, ready for my next "connection" to my SR son... I don't see anyone else with ship 11 div 167 and no PIR/address letter yet... and no phone call except upon arrival 3/5. I know, I know, wait wait wait... but just expressing that I feel nervous. I am wondering what reasons could create this hold up on the letter but I have looked through several places and read a lot. I know it isn't that big of a deal but I have already sent 5 letters to him (5th one goes out today) and I just hope he receives them etc. :)

Congrats on the calls!

Good Morning Everyone!

Don't wait on hotel reservations....the hotels tend to fill up. For those who missed my post yesterday, scroll back a page or so to see hotels recommended on this site by other families who have stayed there.  Southwest Airlines into either Milwaukee WI (45 min to GL, no traffic, cheaper car rental) and Chicago-Midway (hour+ to GL depending on traffic) is a good choice.....no change fee charged if you have to change for any reason, 2 bags check for free.

My husband is on ship 13 div 162. I got my first call other than the I'm here call on Saturday. It was an amazing feeling to hear his voice again. After graduation he will be staying in Chicago for A school.

I should already know which A school he is going to. But with a split family, these things are sometimes not always clear. We all support him, that's all that matters.

And I will be sure to book my flight for Wednesday since the flights suck from Nothern Idaho. I will be there though!
