~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

JSunflower, I am praying for your son. Also praying that all concerned will see that he does not have a anxiety problem, and that your son's dreams will come true.

Good afternoon folks! Today is my SR's 26th birthday, the old fogie. <3 A cheap light beer and a shot of his favorite rum will have to be consumed tonight!

USAProud--keeping your son in my thoughts, I hope you get to talk to him soon and find out what's really going on!

Comment by JSunflower1217 on April 8, 2014 at 1:28pm

Hey everyone! Hope everybody is doing well! I am missing my SR today, I sent him a card with a picture of my first ultrasound in it and the tech wrote "hi Daddy" on it. I am wondering if he got it and how he is doing. Since most of us didn't hear from our SRs this weekend I'm wondering how all the SRs are doing.

USAproud- I am so sorry to hear the news about your son. I would take it with a grain of salt until you hear directly from him though. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers!

Have a good day everyone, only 24 more days!

USA Proud - I am so sorry to hear this.  More than anything I hope your son is OK medically and he is over the infection. His health is #1.  I had a lung infection about eight years ago and it was the sickest I have ever been. It is very scary when you feel as though you can not get enough oxygen to breath.  It feels like you have an elephant on your chest. I think all of us "moms/wives" will keep you and your son in our prayers. Hoping you get some kind of answers soon.

Comment by diannep on April 7, 2014 at 11:25pm

So very sorry, usaproud.  I'm surprised that your son has not been able to call home to tell you this directly?  I think I remember a post from you where you were in touch with him and he said he had the infection and they said panic attack and that he could be separated, but nothing definite.

Sadly, it seems whenever a SR is labeled with a panic attack or anxiety attack, it usually results in discharge.  But I agree with ellen....if he wants to stay in, he will need to leave no stone unturned if he feels he was improperly diagnosed with the panic attack.  He will meet with Legal and can express his concerns then.  If he wants you all to be able to get info directly from RTC up there, he will have to sign a waiver allowing this.  Otherwise, all communication is strictly with him.

For those fighting a discharge, it can take a while to get through everything which means a long time of hanging out at RTC in Ship 5, which can be frustrating and depressing.  But for those who really want to stay in and feel they have a case, it is worth the fight!

Prayers for your son and all of you as he pursues this...but especially that you hear directly from him in a phone call.

usaproud, First, and not that is really any of my business, but how did you hear it on FB, did he message you because he knew you were not at home?

If it is a discharge/separation have him ask every question he can think of and then ask more. Ask about staying, and/or returning to try again etc, and then ask more questions.
