OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My son is in ship 13 div 164 he was able to talk to my husband yesterday he was very exhausted since they've been up for 24 or plus hours I think from what he told him he said they were finishing up yesterday afternoon maybe around 4 or 5 there Chicago time he said they fed them monster drink and candy bars to stay awake lol so I'm not sure if he'll call again so I think today his division might be catching up on some zzzzzs :)

Seakids,

Indicviduals may not pass Battlestations, but not an entire division.  You should receive a call today (Wednesday). I didn't get an "I'm a Salor" call last year when my Sailor daughter finished and she completed it fine~~

Comment by Military mom of 2 ship 11 div162 on April 29, 2014 at 9:58pm
Received the I am a sailor from my son today at 3pm he was exhausted. He was upset that some of his peers from other divisions didn't pass, but he said they were going to get another chance to pass BS possibly tonight. I am praying for that div that they all pull together and they pass. So much time invested to not pass. They will work with them and get them to work better together as a division . Praying for them.
