For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by diannep on April 30, 2013 at 9:56am: Angie, ok. No, there are still no overnights for any of the new sailors, including those staying at GL for A School. That RDC is going on very old info! Just verified this with the A School base personnel.

Also, missG/ellen. Just checked and there are currently NO all girl divisions at RTC in the current groups. So, missG, your daughter's division must be integrated, like ellen said, not all -girl.

Although GL A School sailors used to get overnights, they discontinued this policy about 2 yrs ago. We have not heard that it is reinstated. But...I will check with someone at that base and let you know if that is true. Certainly do not think so though. Their daytime Liberty is usually from early in the morning until 9 or 10 pm at night. They will move over there shortly after PIR, takes several hours, and then call you for pick up from that base.

I've been trying to find where I read someone posted about getting a rental at the hotel they were staying at Im taking Sarges' airport shuttle but looking for using a rental when I get to Navy Lodging. Can't seem to find where I read someone else had done this. Can someone link me to this discussion.

My Sailor called this evening and he told me that his Chief said that those staying in GL for A School were going to have overnight liberty on Friday and Saturday night. Have you ever heard of this happening? Could be a dilemma because we have one room booked with one King size bed and won't have anywhere for him to stay. Suggestions? I'm desperate!

I LOVE them!!!!! The ribbons are beautiful and I can't wait to wear mine. And I am so proud to be using my Navy Mom bag. It's awesome. Your items are beautiful and I wholeheartedly endorse them!!
