N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

ellen0502....Thank you so much for the info. I did let him know in his letters and when we talked, who would be coming. I know he was confused about his emotions, that I was sure lots of SR's and parents were going through the same thing. :-) He is very lucky to have another cousin graduate just under a month ago, so he has heard first hand what a wonderful experience it is. And I have a great Sailor nephew, helping his Aunt through this! Thanks EVERYONE for your continued support & of course I am here...as well as my sister (she is on this site also because her son...another nephew of mine) is graduation in this class as well!!! EVERYONE confused now...lol! Welcome to my world :-)))

TAN'SMOM, No need to be concerned, your SR will have the opportunity to add names sometime in the last couple weeks of BC. Just make sure you let him know who will be coming and who you would like put on the list.

The first calls and letters can get you all choked up, it is hard to not be there for them, but they are in good hands. My son wrote in his first letter, "I never thought getting a letter from home would turn me into a big gooey mush ball", and he was 26 at the time. His comment did the same thing to me, I cried for hours. It will get better for both of you. :)

Question??? I got my form letter right on time from my SR. The names to attend the PIR were blank. Should I be concerned?

Liz's mom, you can hang here for a while until you receive the form letter from your daughter confirming her division. When you do get it let me know, and I'll jump on getting the next PIR group started for you. :)

Good Morning All! Sorry I haven't been on here since Friday....BUT, I DID get a call from my son on Saturday morning. My mom and I got to talk to him on speakerphone for about 15 minutes.  Let's just say it was VERY emotional.  It put me "unavailable" for the rest of the weekend. He said he was doing pretty good even though he was sick.  He kept apologizing for being emotional to the point of tears but said he was just so happy to hear our voice and talk to us.  He said the letters mean SO MUCH!!! He wanted to hear more about every day life...LIKE how the cats were adjusting to the new house and how his brother was doing in school, etc... He was looking forward to the next week being more hands on and definately looking forward to graduation.  He said it was very hard being removed from the outside world but was making friends and doing good. The call was good to have but I will tell you right now, my son is strong yet loving....and to hear him try to hold those tear and emotions....and the fact that he couldn't....was heartbreaking.  Please everyone write your SR!!! Pray for their peace of mind daily. love to you all!!

Good morning all-

See its snowing in Chicago! here in Virginia too. It was in the 70's here on Saturday. Gotta love this time of year. I hope it warms up soon in Chicago and better be warm by May 3rd I hate the cold.

Glad they do a lot of their training indoors. My boy sounded sick already on message he left me.
