Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by MikeMcGFL on March 17, 2013 at 1:40pm: Hey proudmama: Forgive me for sticking my nose in, but if you'll call her recruiter tomorrow they can look her up and make sure nothing has changed regarding her address and PIR date. Don't let them tell you they can't because they can. Hopefully you'll get the letter tomorrow that will ease your mind and the phone call will follow shortly. I know it's difficult not to be worried. msandi's hubby- Mike

It might help to know which ships were getting calls yesterday. I'm really hoping you get a call today and your letter tomorrow

Comment by Steph Proud AG Mom on March 17, 2013 at 11:03am: Hi All- nothing yet- so happy for those who have received phone calls and their letters- I'm still in the dark- seriously wondering if they held her for the following weeks divisions... she got to GL 3/7. and 1 of 4 girls to ship that night...going crazy.. I miss her- I have several letters waiting for her... just a bad day all the way around...I told her to activate her phone cards before she left-- she wouldn't listen...Happy St patricks's day to all.

I know the 1st 2 weeks are the most shock and grueling time for them. Hoping they are building bonds within each others divisions, having a friend I'm sure would help things tremendously.

So hopefully not only will they receive letters tomorrow, but they will be writing some, mailing out on Monday, on their way to YOU!
