~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

On a brighter note most of us will be heading up to Great Lakes by this time next week!!!!!!!
I couldn't be more excited to see my husband!!!!
Lala, I do not want to cause drama or call people out. I posted about OPSEC rules on the PIR group FB page. The person who did post the BS date did eventually take it down. I HATE drama, but i like for people to follow rules, especially when it comes to our SR's safety.
This situation doesn't need to be taken any further. Like I said, whomever posted the BS date on FB did take it down.
Thank you RoseOfJa four cents is always better lol.
Lala you are correct subtle hints have been made on both groups and someone DID post a date and it was promptly removed (but I get emails on all groups I follow and saw it). I can't remember which group it was on. I do think it was and honest mistake and this is how we learn with the guidance of admins and wish ppl wouldn't take offense to the guidance y'all give us.
Well I am going to add my two cents to msandi's two cents to make it four cents. As stated, we are in boot camp too just like our SRs and we really need to make sure that we sleep, eat and drink OPSEC for the safety of our future and current sailors. THANK YOU N4Moms Admin/Veterans for all you have done and still do to make our transition to military family a process we can grow and learn from.
To all Mom's and loved ones
With all the drama about posting BS dates and references to BS dates (if we know what your talking about then someone else will too) I feel a need to add my two cents! I’m trying to think of it this way: It may be just a training process but we are in training too. We have to learn to keep our mouths shut this is a training process for us too. Lose lips sink ships!!! Their BS training is considered a real life situation. If even one of us were to post about the movement of our Sailor, we not only jeopardize the life of our Sailor, but every Sailor with them!! And the safety of our Country!! Like we have been told- anyone can hack what we think is a safe (closed) group-if we can read it so can they. We don't know who might be reading our post. I think we found comfort in posting and sharing about all the training our SR's are going thru that we forgot that BS is consider a real life situation. I know for sure that no one on here would ever bring harm to any of the SR's. I think this is what the admins are trying to tell us. We need to start now! This is our training and our SR's will soon to be Sailors and some mistakes we may make now could have a huge impact on them later. If I have screwed up I do apologize now and I have received a stern lecture from my hubby. My lips are sealed!!! And THANK YOU to all of our admins for keeping us squared away. I know everyone appreciates all that they do and the fact that they volunteer to help us. This was not intended to offend anyone and I hope it doesn't! It's just my two cents. I can't wait to meet everyone. And wishing all our SR's luck with all their final tests.
Love both sites, and haven't observed anyone breaking rules on either site. 1 more week to meet and greet; can't wait. Thank you Admin. for helping us get through this ordeal. Don't know what I would do without either group. Thanks for helping us moms connect with one another. :]
You're welcome MamaKrayKray, and the answer I gave to that hypothetical question would also apply to the same type slacks. :)
Good Idea, MamaKrayKray!
Just to give a little history....up until the summer of 2011, we were allowed to disclose BattleStations dates and I would even post a schedule in the BattleStations discussion on each PIR group. But starting that summer, RTC asked us to stop doing that. Again, they want you to start practicing OPSEC. We still want you all to be aware of when your SRs will be going through without publicly posting it, if we are able to collect the info....your SRs will be the ones who know the dates. However, getting the info to those who have not heard from their SRs is a challenge now since we are keeping it private. Just know that we N4Moms veterans are doing our very best to get important info to you, in the proper way.
Kelli, sorry you feel the need to leave this site....it would be nice if you would stay and get the best of both worlds! The unfortunate thing about texting and posting/emailing is that people sometimes misunderstand what a person is saying...and feelings get hurt. I don't believe anyone intends to hurt anyone else's feelings here. We always try to keep positive tones on these groups...if something grows "heated" (rare), we take it "off the site" into private message.
Anyway, think about it. Would love to have you stay!
