OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks diannep, I'm aware of that, but thanks for the reminder.

Rtar:  They start anywhere between 8 and 10 pm---overnight drill....capping ceremony (trade RECRUIT cap for NAVY cap) happens the next morning.  Calls can start coming in as early as 2 pm Central time that day.

Comment by diannep on April 11, 2013 at 11:11pm

167/168 go through BattleStations at the same time.  Remember, ladies, we cannot post the BattleStations dates on here.  Angie, if you want to know the date, you can friend request/private message Rtarbaby.

I would think 167/68 would do BS together since they are brother divisions.

Diannep-I know BS is 12 hours, but any idea what time of day they will start

Wonder if the BS date applies to 168 as well since they are brother divisions? I am not a fan if the no calls until afterward either. It's been almost 3 weeks already.

We both got letters today, as usual.  He seems upbeat, but ready for it to be over with.  He was told he would be departing RTC very early Saturday morning after graduation.  "A" school in Mississippi, more than likely hitting Atlanta and connecting from there.  I checked the O'hare flight schedules, and they have direct flights to Atlanta leaving as early as 7 am.  He was given his BS date, division 167.  Said he would not be making any calls until after BS.  His mother was not a fan of that, but one never knows, they may earn something special.

I got a letter on Wednesday (div 175)...it was pretty short as he said they were really busy. Said he is well though. Can't believe we only have 3 weeks left!

Comment by irene (9/174) on April 11, 2013 at 9:27pm

Hi Angie.  I am so glad you got a letter today and that he is good.  I got one too.  She is fine.  She misses all the comforts of home.

Comment by HizproudMama on April 11, 2013 at 8:46pm

I received a letter today, it was quick, short and to the point. He sounded excited and is counting down as he said it seems time is going by faster. Like everyone else said they are super busy, Said they are doing marksmanship training with the pistol and he's loving it. Hoping to earn ribbons or medals from his uniform this week. Geezz if I only knew to do that to get him to keep a neat and clean appearance while he was growing up.lol  Guess that boot training is working for my yungin' :) I'm so proud of him !

Hope everyone else gets a letter or call this weekend too. (3) more Thursdays.. Yay!!

Hang in there proudmomma, Last week I was hanging my head on Thursday, just to find that little envelope in my mailbox on Friday. I hope you'll find the same tomorrow
