Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Erica on April 11, 2013 at 5:16pm: Hello all. Got a letter from my husband today as well. He mentioned a SR that he had become close with from Maryland last name starts with an "S". (Div 175.) Just wondering if anyone was here representing him.

Comment by msandi(13/170) on April 11, 2013 at 5:09pm: Finally!! Got a letter today Ship13/Div170 Good news and bad. He said they flagged PFA and flagged something else I can't read his writing it's so small. But he failed his PFA the running part he passed everything else. He scored a 237 on his SAMT I heard that is very good. Said he was worried about their drill inspection they have only had a couple of day of practice and they aren't very good. He said if they don't flag for the drill inspection they become a Battle-Bug division, his words "meaning Hot Garbage" I think he's just repeating what the RDC's have said to them so they will shape up lol. Because they have earned 2 flags already. He seems a little stressed and down he didn't pass his PFA and that they may not flag for their next inspection. He has pink eye and said it was going around. Ask me to text a couple of his friends with his address. He said he was fine just very down right now. Praying that something happens to bring him back up!! I think he needs a little pep talk from mom. And it goes like this...I'm so proud of you look at what you have accomplished! Now put on your BIG boy underwear and pass that PFA!!!!

My little brother is in ship 3, div 171. SP from San Antonio, TX...maybe one of your loved ones know him? Hoping he at least has one friend. :) As a big sister, I worry about him sometimes. He's following in my husband's footsteps and is hoping to be a FC lol. Can someone message me the link for the 5/3 PIR Facebook group?
