~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

We are almost half way there - chins up! This is your pep up talk for the day. Tomorrow is Thursday which hopefully means letters for all! Then Friday another week to cross off meaning only 4 more weeks. Gooooo Team! We can do this! Always share when and if you are feeling down; we are here to lift and inspire our Navy family on. Hang in there guys and gals its all downhill from here!!!

Angie - He might have had watch when others were making calls last Wednesday; someone always has to be on watch. It has happened to others and usually that is the reason why that person did not get call. Try and not let your mind spiral out of control with worry. His division all past the academic test so don't worry about that. Hoping you receive letter tomorrow or Friday with weekend call around the corner. Seems to be a pretty good division; with everyone pulling together and helping one another. Hang in there and we are here to help calm those voices. :]

AngieW:  Rtarbaby is correct.  No news is Good news in bootcamp.  So although it would help you tremendously and I hope you get a letter and/or phone call soon, just assume that training is proceeding normally!  If their PIR date is changed for any reason, you will be called.

proudmomma-I almost requested the phone cards for the recruits, but I felt more at ease buying my own, and activating it myself.  I purchased one that I can monitor and add minutes, so it makes me feel better.  That way, if he allows others to use it, or calls others, I can add whatever amount of minutes I think he may need.  I hope the new cards work and you hear from him this weekend.

Angiew-From what I understand, if there are any issues with any SR, they are monitored while thay make contact with someone from home.  ie, hospital ill, failed tests, etc.  I am sure on of the senior n4m moms can address that.  I think that is the case, because it can affect your SR's PIR date.  Sad but true, in some cases, no news is good news.  Not what you want to hear, I am sure.  I hope you get a long letter this week, and all your fears are put to rest.

Comment by AngieW (12/168) on April 3, 2013 at 4:15pm

I am getting no communication from my SR.  I got ONE letter on 3-21 and the last phone call was 3-24.  I have heard that his division passed the academic test but not heard it from him.  I'm now in panic mode.  I can't concentrate at work.  I just need to hear that he's ok and not sick or worse.  I was certainly hoping for a calll over Easter weekend, but that didn't happen.  I'm just worried sick and don't know what to do.

Comment by proudmomma (14/176) on April 3, 2013 at 4:13pm

Rtar- I sure hope so. My fear is that he could have called to tell me he passed but the phone cards we sent didn't work. So hopefully he gets the ones I sent and will work this time. :)

proudmomma-Only a minute.  That would be difficult.  My son is not much of a talker or writer.  He will text you to death, but his letters are at best 3/4 of a page, and he only answers questions when we talk to him.  We did not get a call last weekend, only the Wednesday call last week saying he passed his tests and was moving into week 3.  If we do not get a call this weekend, my guess is we will not get one until after BS21.  At least, if history holds true, tomorrow is letter day.  Hope you hear from your SR, and it is a long, detailed letter.

Rtarbaby/son- I stress and I don't even know whats going on. I can only imagine what you are going through. What makes it even worse is that I only got to talk to my son on Saturday for a minute, so I have no idea what last week was like for him or how he is really doing. :(

Comment by Rtarbaby/son/12/167 on April 3, 2013 at 3:54pm

marla.rae-I agree, I always over analyze, hold over from my own military days.  I have to agree, I think having a weekend in the 4th week makes it more manageable.  I would prefer the weekend to week 4 starting on a Monday, 5 straight days of stress with no break.  I am sure they will all do well, but as a parent, I am hard wired to worry and over analyze.  lol
