For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Melissa (14/175) on April 2, 2013 at 9:15pm: It depends on how long he is at A school. My husband is in GL for A school for 14 weeks and the Navy wont move me. I did think about putting all our stuff in storage and renting a furnished apt for 2 months. I understand wanting to be with your husband. If i were you i would find out for sure if the Navy will really move you up there. Then its up to you to weigh the cost/benefit.

I know i will be up there every weekend that he has liberty during A school. Thankfully its only a 4 hour drive for me.

Now that I think about it I have to laugh, at how freaked out I was that I hadn't got the letter sooner. I even MADE my husband call the recruiter two times. hahaha

Rtarbaby: That 4th week is a great week for them, but busy with lots to get done. But it is also exciting in that they become much more positive about everything and only have 2 more weeks of training before they are sailors~ Yes, you are correct in that 167/168 should be on 3-4 today. 169/170 should be a day behind them.

We did get his box quickly, and the form letter as well, so we were fortunate in that regard. From what I can gather from his letters and other posts on here, he should be 3-4 today. Starts 4-1 on Thursday. He has stated several times that he just wants 4th week to be over and done....
