OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I keep telling everyone VBS is a great excuse for having to leave a room, "Please excuse me I have VBS" (vibrating phone syndrome). Those that aren't afraid to ask what VBS is will get a good laugh out of it when you explain it. Those that don't want to ask and Google it later then wonder why you have a script error, or what you have to do with some Vacation Bible School.

Thanks ellen0502 and diannep for enlightening me about the USOs.

Also Thanks everyone for the tips about tucking your cell phone in various places including bra..a whole new way of  adding lift , lol

Also Thanks MamaKrayKray for sharing your April Fools experiences, makes me smile

PIR ribbons ordered.  Thank you Lala!

Has been a busy day in this household so far with two kids home on spring break & taking on the challenge of April Fools Day - so far I have had a handful of peanut butter after opening a door (they coated the door knob) & a wet front after they taped the kitchen spray nozzel on "open" .  They are not forgetting the lessons their big brother taught them. Time for Mama to take action . . .

missG;  The USOs are stationed at many of the airports, the Chicago airports included and soon at Milwaukee's also.  They are a place for servicemen/women who are traveling to rest, get something to eat, and get any kind of help they may need in their journeys.  They are staffed with volunteers, I believe.

For those of you meeting your sailors at the airports the day after PIR to see them off, this is where your sailors will be hanging out for a while.

Could someone please tell me what USO stands for?

Hmmm....good question, Rose.  I would call the PHOTO LAB and PUBLIC AFFAIRS and ask about that:

Photo Lab:  847 578 6205

Public Affairs:  847 688 2405

Since your sailor will not be returning to RTC, not sure how that will work.  But I'm sure they can tell you.

Comment by RoseOfJa on April 1, 2013 at 12:05pm

Diannep: Will I be able to return to the photo lab later that day (after PIR) without my son to pick up the photos if I left the RTC?  My son will be staying at GL for A school, and from what I have read, there is a 4 to 5 hours of wait time before I can pick him up for Liberty. I'm thinking I would leave the RTC and return in enough time to go to the photo lab to pick up the pics and pick up my son for Liberty.

The picture is a little blurry, but you can see the Division RCPOs at graduation in this photo carrying the swords:
