I'll speak for me...love the details. at this point starving for details! So thank you for sharing.

How did you arrange for him to call you at the hotel? I'm guessing that he wasn't allowed his cell phone yet.

Do you have to ask for discounts? I mean the sailor is standing right there in uniform..

Did you go to church on base or pick somewhere close by?

A lot of us have been asking about the security phone call-does everyone in the div have to call out or are some of them "exempt"? At what week does this usually occur as it seems very spotty as to when.

Bob's mom thank you so much.

is your son eod or dive?  I know it can be choppy during that weekend.  Do you know when he will get leave? after Prep or ??

I know my son is staying for prep, but sure hope he will get some time to come home at some point.

Thank you so much for helping us mom out, we will be bringing out youngest out with us so that is good to know that there is a gap between grad and time with us.

Like aj I love details! Where did you go to church? dinner? I have read somewhere that we have to check them out. Do we actually check them out or do they check themselves out?

I also LOVE the details.  I can't get enough.  My son has been very good about answering my questions, but it's still not enough!  He told me he recently found out the Navy guarantees him 2 weeks of leave after Panama City.  That's all I know about leave.

I'm starting to wonder if it's going to be torture all over again seeing him and then saying goodbye.  I'm assuming it will be different than his final weekend at home with us since we are now somewhat used to our baby being gone, and there will be contact with him. That cold turkey, empty nest, communication cut-off was very hard on this Mom!

The liberty times you had with your son sound like what my son was told about his liberty for that weekend.

Oh my goodness so nice for your moms to help us out! My question is how much during the first week did he have time off. Could he use his cell? Also I am staying for a week since my uncle is retired Capt I will be staying with them. Do you know about the first weekend when they move over has he said anything about liberty?

Thanks again for helping out!

Thank you and congrats! I know you are one proud Mom! Was your son beaming when you saw him after PIR? Silly question!! Did your sons division have a lot of trouble with not getting their phone calls and mail and 4th meals?

My last letter was dated last Tuesday and my son seemed to think that things were going somewhat better at that time.  Things may have changed since then.

Levada---as a whole things are much better. My son is in very good spirits and looking forward to PIR. He says the RDCs are really an awesome group of guys and there are a lot of great guys in the division.

pjay,

I received another letter today and my son seems to think highly of the RDC's and most of the guys in the division.  It is so good to hear from him that things are going much smoother now.

I know what you mean. It makes me feel much better when my son is so positive about things. He said they had a lot of fun with the firearms and on the simulator. He doesn't have a date for Battle Stations. Did your son say anything about it?

No, he did not mention Battle Stations in this letter.  He did enjoy the firearms and simulator.  If I hear anything about Battle Stations I will be sure to post it.

just a word of caution,Levada and I'm sure that you know it but we aren't to post the dates for BS on here , Just pm to diannep. She will then pass it on to the rest of us that don't have kids that write ...very much...hardly....infrequently
