Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

What a blessing!  I have to say getting that "I'm a Sailor" is one of the proudest moments for me as a parent so far!!!.  Here we come Great Lakes.

Hooray..just got a "I'm a sailor call from my daughter" she can't talk about any other details...she was coughing a lot but praise the Lord, everything is on point.  unfortunately we got disconnected in an attempt to make a 3 way call to hubby - but boy what a relief to hear her voice..she sounds super tired - i'm praying for everyone else to have the best outcome from this journey..moms keep your heads up and pray for our sailors...i just want to take this opportunity to thank you all in this forum..you made an impact in my life and kept me sane during this process. much <3!

very good to hear Liz'smom...candles will burn tonight for her!

Comment by Sailor Boy J's Mom on May 7, 2013 at 3:29pm

Bless her heart!  I'm so glad she was able to hear your voice.  I'm sure that gave her the strength she needs.  It breaks my heart thinking that she was over there thinking she disappointed you guys. I'm so glad you could talk to her and let her know that she has your love and support.

Comment by Steph Proud AG Mom on May 7, 2013 at 3:17pm

I just heard from my girl- she's progressing- good chance she'll pass tomorrow!! keep the prayers and candles lit- she needed to hear my voice as much as I needed to hear hers- she thought she let us down-- and that I had canceled my plans- I assured her- we will be ready to rock and roll once we hear from her!!!
