OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Just received the First Phone Call from my Son.  He sounded pretty good, a little homesick, but not too bad.  He said he has had IT once, had to write an essay.  But he said lesson learned.  He is a Section leader, so no flying under the radar. :)  He said he wishes his recruiter would have told him to start learning the Sailors Creed and Chain of Command.  He said he ran the 1.5 mile initial test in 10:11, so he thinks he will do fine there.  He bought a watch at the NEX and some razors to take back to another recruit who couldn't go yet.  Good to see him helping someone else out.  It was so good to hear his voice.  He said he can't call for another 2-3 weeks, so No News is Good News!!

I got my second call today from my SR! She's doing great and sounds good. She's one of the youngest in her group and the smallest that I've seen so far. She passed an important test this week. .. Yay! Totally amazed by the task... I'm so proud!! She said she's written but I haven't gotten it yet either. Looking forward to it. Hanging in there....

Proud Mama - I'm glad you got that phone call... we are still hoping to hear from ours again today.  He said Saturday, so we hopefully sometime today. On the Facebook page, there are lots of people hearing from their SR, but none from Ship 11 Div. 186 yet. Hang in there 'Proud Mama', your definitely not alone in your feelings, and your husbands reaction... our husbands just want to fix every situation, and hate to see us cry... and this is just not a quick fix! I'll be praying for you and your son. Take care and hang in there.

I'm happy I finally heard from my son, it was a secured call like Txnavymom got, strictly asking for his prev college room-mates info for a ref..I got to ask him a couple yes or no answers... He said he was doing fine, yes he had gotten my letters, yes he had written me back (I haven't received yet..hopefully soon).. that was it, I told him I loved him and was proud, he said "I love you too Mom, gotta go,bye".. Now I'm crying like a baby for the 1st time since he left...He sounded good, just tired.. I've thought about him 24/7 since he left but just now, hearing his voice..and hearing how tired he is, I'm a mess of tears, locked my husband out of our bedroom and told him to quit asking me whats wrong.. Is he that stupid?..I'm not being fair, I know that, we've been married for almost 24 yrs, so I know he just wants to help and doesn't know how..I'm usually the strong one in the family and never let anyone see me cry..I know I'm feeling sorry for myself,,he said he was fine, I need to concentrate on that and do something constructive.. Thanks for letting me complain, I feel more comfortable crying to ya'll than my own husband, Thanks for being there, I'm feeling better already..I'm gonna unlock the door and apologize

I got a call today. I am turning cartwheels again! I am keeping him in my prayers as well as all the SR's and their families! He sounds so mature! I hated to get off the phone. I can't wait to see his face again at PIR...I feel like I did when I was waiting to see his face after he was born! I am so happy for him! He is looking forward to going to see a movie with us when he gets Liberty after PIR...his birthday is the next day!!!

Wow. Got a call today as well as last week. Very grateful to hear his voice. My older son went through boot last year and I barely got 2 calls the entire time. My SR sounds better than last week but is still on the fence about things. I am just going to keep sending encouraging letters. I know my older son had the same doubts but once PIR came around he was very happy with his decision. I am hoping the same for my youngest.

Yep!  Very normal for the girls to fight!  HA!  We hear that so often.  In the boys' groups, we hear that they are not "coming together" and some just won't listen, etc.  But it all works out in the end!  The RDCs know what they are doing and do it well!

Good Morning All!

Comment by Steph Proud AG Mom on March 30, 2013 at 8:03am

Happy Easter All!  I got my letters- she's happy, excited- loves the food- part of the laundry crew... although she says the girls fight alot - is this a normal occurance?  I am concerned- they need to work together!
