Hi everyone...my name is Jan and im here to help answer any questions you ladies may have. I have recently been in your shoes, and my son is currently in Groton CT for submarine training, so feel free to ask me anything on these subjects...i am a new veteran mom but love paying it forward ...it helps me with missing my Sailor!!!  Seems like a just got to now all the moms in other groups and they are now getting ready to PIR..so looking forward to getting to know all of you.

I know it seems like time is standing still, but this group will help it go by a little quicker...these ladies will become your best friends, You all have a bond already that no one else really understands.

This is YOUR PIR group, so feel free to start any discussions above, especially individual division discussion groups...this way you can chat to moms/wives/etc who have SR's in the same division as you..enjoy getting to know each other!!!

You guys just remember....bootcamp is NOT what the Navy is like. It is very rigid because it is a process of "changing" them into sailors.  As they get out of bootcamp and use what they have learned, they get more relaxed and can settle into the Navy.  Hoping that all of your SRs keep their "eye on the prize" when times are difficult!  The capping ceremony for them (after BattleStations---their final test---after which they are SAILORS!) is very emotional for them...and rightly so!

I would ask him if he is happy with his decision. NCRMOORE-yah! Finally someone else with the same ship and division. My son is in as a Gunner's Mate.

I want to know if it's all he thought it would be. And if he's atleast enjoying it a little.

I think it is because some of the people have to wait for their division to fill up before they can move to their ship and get a PIR date.  Your daughter's division was probably waiting for more people to get there to fill up her division.  But I could be wrong.

I don't understand if ship dates are different how do they grad. the same day?  My daughter shipped the 22 grad the 13 and I see some shipped 15th and other dates but all grad at the same time?
