I'm glad it's small though that'll be nice

Yes, SubWife.  8 divisions is rather small.  They have been as large as 14 divisions since I have been on the site, over a yr.

A word of advice for you is to not make any travel arrangements until at least half way through BC as many things can change the PIR date for your recruit such as injuries, discharge, illness and many other things.  Do not stress about this, I made my reservations 1 week out from PIR and got great rates on everything.  When thinking about flying look into flying into Milwaukee as it can save you lots of money and is the same distance to the base as from Chicago.  You are just beginning your journey and will learn so much on this site, if you know what job -  Nuke, SAR, etc. join those groups also and you will learn and make more new friends.

Please read the guidelines about what to mail and what is allowed.  A good idea is to type your letters on the computer and copy and paste the puzzles, photos, news articles, questionnaires, etc, that way it is part of the letter and nothing that would make your recruit stand out from the crowd.  They have a very limited space to store their belongings.  Do not send any musical cards, glitter, packages as they can cause consequences for the recruits. Do not stress about when you will get a letter or phone call it is different for everyone.

Phone calls will differ by division and are at the discretion of the RDC’s, sometimes you will see divisions calling home but you have not heard from yours, do not stress.  No news is good news in the military.  You may get more calls than others or not, if you get one feel blessed and if not do not be depressed - our recruits are doing fine, learning new skills and adjusting to a brand new lifestyle.  After PIR the communication lines will open back up.  BC is hard to adapt to when you are used to knowing everything that is going on with them but you will get through it.

If there are only 8 divisions in PIR, is it going to be a small one?  Or is that a normal amount of divisions for PIR?

Got my son's letter today, he left on 3/17. He is SHIP 07, DIV 170. PIR is 5/13-I can't wait!

Book your hotel at least, bjjMom!  You may want to wait a little longer on flights!  Hotels are no big deal to cancel or change.  Usually up to the day you arrive or the day before.  I recommend the Residence Inn Waukegan!  We had a very great experience there, plenty of room, free hot buffet breakfast, PET FRIENDLY for those driving who want to bring pets to share in the excitement!  PIR shuttle too!

So if it's official ... What does that mean exactly? Like book your flights? Hope we see letters this week!!!! :)
