Hope you had a wonderful birthday, Lala!

I hope everyone had a great day. It is amazing what joining the Navy will do for your sons, daughters, or significant others. They will grow, mature, and somehow appear taller. It will amaze you. My daughter/sailor has amazed me several times since she finished bootcamp in July. And she did it again today. She sent flowers to me today for my birthday and I was so surprised. And of course I cried lol. I wish you all could smell them, they are amazing :-)

AnnaElizabeth phone calls usually come the third or fourth week unless they lose that privilage for some reason
Comment by AnnaElizabeth93 on April 7, 2011 at 7:54pm
When people say they recieved their first letter and are "waiting" for a phone call does that mean you usually get a phone call in the week or the next week? I thought getting calls was just rare!
Comment by Nanette on April 7, 2011 at 7:19pm
Now I wait for the phone call I just hope I don't ball like a baby when I talk to her cause I don't want to make her feel sad.  (I'm probably the worlds biggest winey wa-wa on the face of this earth, I cry at the drop of a hat.)

I got my first letter yesterday and I do believe I will think as BetsymomofSailor.  And remember, as she said some days have passed she wrote that letter.

John always seems so upbeat in his letters he says he's bored but I guess that's good news
Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on April 7, 2011 at 6:38pm

NCRMOORE, I always tried to remember that by the time I received my son's letters, a few days had passed, since he had written them, and whatever feelings he was experiencing when he wrote them, had probably passed by then.  It kept me going, thinking of it that way.
