WOOHOO!  I was able to talk to my son today!  I missed the call on Saturday, and almost missed it today :)  My daughter got to talk to him as well.  It made our day!  And, when I got home, letter from him for each of us...me, dad, and 2 sisters.  It was a great day!!  Plus, he said they earned their first flag.  He sounded great!

Yea my husband started crying when he was talking to our son. I felt bad but it was good that he talked to him. Its hours later and I am still thinking about that call and the letters! I can't focus on anything.

Got a call today and lots of letters. It was great to hear from him. He's going to be one of the flag holders which he seemed happy about haha.

I got letters from my son today! Yeah finally. He said he is doing okay but it is nothing like he expected. He was chosen to be in the rifle guard which kind of surprised me but he seemed happy about it and he said they will be performing during graduation.

Well, Ladies - I got my phone call today!  I was at work in the middle of dealing with a customer (YMCA) and saw the 847 # and took off from the desk to go talk to my son.  I was so excited to hear his voice.  He's doing well and feels like he's gained some weight - got measured for his dress whites, dress blacks and peanut butters today.  Says the food"is actually pretty good".

When I got home there was a letter for his dad here.  What a great day!  Hope you all hear from your SR's soon!

I'm a week ahead of you, and the week you're in was the week I got both my first letter and a phone call. So be vigilant, keep the phone close, because yeah, as Maggie said, you can be with your phone all day, and then the second you walk away, it will ring. I was so annoyingly happy, I told everyone every detail of both! I hope you all get a chance to be annoyingly happy soon. ;)

maggie---i had the problem of figuring out what to write about. Sometimes, theres just nothing going on...lol Those are the days i would mail a questionaire, or crossword puzzles, etc..One letter, i told him everything that happened (practically scene for scene) on the last few episodes of his favorite show (Dexter). That was the whole letter..haha!

Went out to the mail box and found 6 letters from my husband. Very nice to hear (read) what is going on over there. He said that he and 3 other guys have to do the laundry for their division (74 guys)....had to laugh thinking about him shoving dirty underwear into a commerical washer. He also said that he is the oldest one in the division (turned 30 within a few days of arriving) and that others are looking at him for direction....Also said that he has passed everything (thus far) with no problems. I am so proud!
