Got my 5 minute phone call today from my SR. Missed the 1st one, didn't hear my phone in my pocket.  Got the 2nd one, thankfully! Only bad thing is his dad and sister didn't get to talk to him.  Maybe next time. He sounded good.  Said he is doing well:) Still miss him tremendously, though.

jdmom=Yes!! it was a true letter and his GF received one also. Hers was much more detailed and she shared the part I needed to hear and mine was an I love you Mom, please write, sleep deprivation, glad to be here and that was about it for mine. They get mail on Wed.? and write on Sundays or the other way around, I'll have to have K bring hers over to reread. Yours is probably enroute!!:)

As far as Milwaukee goes, these days if it is cheaper to fly here do so! It is a 45 minute drive on a good day w/ no traffic and there are a few routes to take. There is construction surrounding the airport spurs but vivid signs. Pretty much a straight shot south because we(airport and I) are on the Lake Michicgan shore, airport approx. 2 miles from shore. I am 7 minutes from Gen.Mitchell Field airport. Very easy airport also. I can look into furthere details of consruction if necessary and share updates as PIR draws nearer. Yay!!

See you later...

Have you heard of a group here on N4M's called ANSWER (Adopt a Noble Recruit Write Every Sailor)? Nearly every Div./PIR Group have SR’s that get little to no mail. They may not have any family to support them or maybe their family doesn't realize how important the letters are for the future Sailors. Ask your sailor in your next letter if there are any recruits who are not getting any mail and if there are have him/her send you the name and address. PLEASE do not post the name and/or address on this site or any other website, such as facebook etc. Just go to that group and send the info in a private message to Hunter's Mom (creator of the group) And if you would like to write to these well deserving recruits please join the group. Each member must be approved. If you are already a member of it check to make sure you still are. There was a glitch this morning and some members were accidentally deleted. Thanks so much and I hope you all have a lovely weekend. :-)

dianne--thanks...i cant wait to see him, even though im sure hes going to be spending a lot of time visiting friends and family....:) I need to stock up on all his favorites...

nytesail--haha! I know exactly what you mean. When i would ask my sons GF what he had to say in her letters..i could here her mumbling as she scrolled down thru it, and every once in a while, she would spout out something about him passing a test or something...lol  im glad she would leave the mushy-gushy stuff out, im sure there was a LOT of it..lol

2 letters from my SR today. 1 for mom, 1 for GF.  She called so excited and then when I got home there was one for me on the counter!  Loves his haircut, took his first PST and did good, working with men that have experience in his field and sleeps about 4 hours.  His GF's letter was a bit more in depth and she shared some but I didn't need TMI :).  Life as I know it today is good!  Wishing you all the same for the weekend.

Enjoy your sailor's visit, janlee...he will look so handsome as he steps off that plane in his whites!  See if you can get a gate pass to wait for him at the gate.  Check with the USO center there if you have a problem.  Hoping that they will let you meet him at the gate, in addition to getting another pass to send him back off at the gate. Mine didn't fly home from A School...drove with his brother...so I have yet to greet him in uniform.  Got to send him off in his whites last May though.
