The RTC FB page is great but please be careful about what you post on there.

Don't ever call the number back that your SR calls from if you miss the call.  Some of the phones WILL ring, and may be answered by an RDC; and if an RDC finds out that an SR got a callback, they get in trouble.  So if you miss the call, you just have to wait for the next one.  :-(

Calls seem to be by division, but sometimes if an SR does something really spectacular, they could be allowed a call as a reward, so occasionally individual calls could be allowed.  But they are usually by divisions.

Here is some good news for all that was posted by the RTC today.

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command
Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower to photograph the approximate 75 divisions of recruits to be able to satisfy everyone's request. This is the same reason that we do not ID the division numbers on the photos we take because we then... get inudated with requests to photograph specific divisions and even specific recruits.

You'll just have to keep your fingers crossed in hopes that when the photographer is out and about, she'll capture your division on camera. :)

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command
Good evening Facebook friends! Being that photos seem to be quite popular, we decided 1 Photo of the Week isn't enough. We will make it a point to post random photos each day of a division/recruits that happen to be in the right place at the right time when our photographer happens to be walking or driving by in the golf cart with camera in hand during weekdays. Or would you rather just have the 1 photo a week. ;)

Saw this today and thought it is so true.

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command Breath, , breath! This is training for you as well as your recruit. Keep writing him letters, every day if need be. Talk about everyday stuff, no matter how mundane it may seem, it will bring him comfort to hear from you as well as hear about everyday normality outside of bootcamp.

To add to what Jessica said about the piks, the SRs have very little storage space...a very small area.  The paper stores better and you can make collages with lots of piks, front and back, on just one sheet of paper.

Too funny, Jessica.  Got a visual of you walking up your steep hill to mail a letter when there was no mail service!  HA!  You are one dedicated mom!

Hi Everyone,

I sent my son 2 pictures of his brand new niece!  We had a little onesie and a bib made that said "Proud niece of a sailor recruit"  She was 7 weeks early.  We were so worried that she would come on PIR weekend.  Her due date was May 10th.

Here's my question:  Are the SR's allowed to get pictures?  I don't want to get him in trouble.  In the letter I sent with them, I did tell him that if he couldn't keep the pictures it would be no problem.  I have another set and we can always print out more.  I thought that pictures might not be a problem if he kept them in the envelope with the rest of his letters.

Does anyone know?

Remember not to stress when you get a letter saying they are sick or having a hard time as the issue has probably resolved itself by the time you hear from them again.  I know that is not easy to do but just tell yourself that things have had time to be better. You are the person they vent to, they want you to be positive and not worry, if you are worried or need to vent or talk come here - do not vent or worry your recruits.
