Welcome to our newest group :-) I am so happy you found this site. It will make this crazy roller coaster adventure so much easier for you. There are several moms on this site that will help you through this journey and I am here to do the same. My Navy journey began about  a year ago when my daughter told me after 2 yrs of college that she wanted something different. She joined in April, met a boy during DEP, left in May and had PIR in July. In August she got engaged and in September she got married, graduated A-school and went to VA for C- school. In Oct her husband finished bootcamp and went to Pensacola. In Dec she graduated C-school and her husband joined her in VA Beach when he graduated A-school in Feb. Talk about a crazy ride. It has been quite an adventure and I have a feeling it is just beginning. It is amazing how much someones life can change in only a year. Anyway, I am here to help you get through this. If you have any questions just ask. The veterans here like Diannep, JessicaB, Janlee and myself, along with a few others are on each groups page everyday to help in whatever way we can. I know it seems like the hardest thing you have ever done and and for many of you it really is. But I promise, it will get better and as the days seem to drag on it won't be long until you are packing and on your way to PIR. btw, My name is Lora, but I am better known as LaLa, PIR Ribbon Queen :-)

Hi, Brenda. Based upon what everyone else has said, I think you're in the right group. We're still waiting on a letter; we got my son's box, Friday. Not talking to him is definitely the hardest thing for me and his father.

Hello everyone, My husband is in Ship 7 Div 169...so I think I am in the right spot. I got his box today, and it made me happy just to see his handwriting on the outside :) I wonder when I will get his first letter and/or phone call. We've been married for 4 years, and this is by far the longest we have gone without talking to each other. I miss him, but I am very excited about seeing him at PIR (assuming he is doing well after reading the last post). Otherwise, just trying to hang in there. How is everyone else doing/handling not speaking  to their loved one?

Just found out my SR is Div.167/Ship 12.  Can't wait to send letters:)

Yes, trowe:  Most likely.  The 5/6 group ends in Div 166 so 170 should be here.  We don't know division numbers yet for this group....should be posted next week on the RTC grad page...but I'm 100 percent sure you are in the right group~  Welcome!

Hi, I was wondering what ship # this PIR group is for? My son is ship 7, div 170 so I am wondering if 5/13 is his PIR date. Thanks!

Thanks Diannep!

Dr Kimber:  Right now, all of the recruits are known as SRs.  Sailor Recruits.  Since your son is an E-2 already, once he graduates, he will be known as an SA, Sailor Apprentice.  If he happens to get promoted during bootcamp to E-3, then he would be an SN, Seaman, when he graduates. Once they finish A School, they tag on their rate (job) letters to the Seaman status.
Comment by Valtameri on March 22, 2011 at 1:00am
I believe everyone in boot camp is SR until PIR (graduation).
Comment by Dr.Kimber on March 21, 2011 at 9:51pm
What if my son went in as an E-2. I'd he already SA?
