~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

diannep:

I'm actually going to call the Navy Lodge and see because their website offers shuttle rides to the airport that's 45 minutes away, but they don't list prices, so I'll be calling Sarge & Navy Lodge tomorrow to figure pricing out. And thank you! I will definitely consider it!

I'll post what I find out tomorrow! (technically today haha)

MoNavyGF:  I don't believe Navy Lodge has its own shuttle service from the airports.  There are independent shuttle services, but Sarge's price usually is better from what we have heard.  Also, if you can share one of his cabs with another family, it is cheaper.

Yep, call him Sarge!  He is a friend to all Navy families!

Nwshelly, Thanks for your post. I don't think I will get over the guilt I have until I see and hug my daughter in person at A school in Pensicola, FL. Then I will be all better. But I have been a great support to her these past 7 weeks by way of snail mail through out BC . She has loved the letters from me and my friends and family so much. We all support our SR/Sailors in different ways. I just have to "Let it Go!" Congrats to DIV 813! Whoot Whoot! Happy Mother Day to all you awesome Navy Moms!

sh04div812,

You could probably get away with athletic shoes and socks for the days you need to use closed toed footwear~~  I see above that on Monday it will be 72* and the rest of the days in the 50s.  You may get blessed weather wise later in the week, but the evenings/overnight will need closed toed if you will be meeting your new Sailor at the airport!

MoNavyGf,

The Navy Lodge is not on base, but about a mile away and you can't walk to RTC from there as there are no sidewalks and the distance.  You can book under your SR's name and you don't need your own military i.d.

Call Sarge to arrange taxi/shuttle pick up.  He can pick you up from the airport and bring you back for a package deal and a free trip to the PIR only.  However, renting a car is always going to be the most economical way to go.  Contact Sarge at JohnSpadaro@att.net or 847-212-0246.  Compare what he would charge vs the Navy Lodge shuttle.

Yes the new Sailors are allowed to leave RTC during liberty, but need to be back by around 8:00 pm, depending on circumstances.  Is his family coming too?  You would probably need to coordinate with them if so~~

If your SR gave you the Gate Pass code, you could print that out to get on RTC if you rent a vehicle to drive on.  Otherwise, you don't need it if you take a taxi/shuttle to get to PIR.
