Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good afternoon everyone! Can't wait for graduation next Friday! :)
I was hoping someone could tell me if we can wear open toed shoes? When my boyfriend swore in, I know that base didn't allow open toed shoes, and I was just curious if I should be a pair just in case.
Also, if I don't have a gate pass can I still go to graduation? His mom and I will be staying at the Naval Inn on base, so I didn't know if a gate pass would make a difference.

Janet, I read somewhere (can't remember) that the " I am sailor" call can last anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes and they can make as many calls as they want during that time. I do not know how accurate that is but I know I read it. So, hopefully its true and if this I am sure she will share her time between all of you! Maybe Ellen knows?

Thanks Navy_gf for the info. My daughter has three important people in her life right now. Boy friend, Dad and me( divorced ) Hard decision as to who to call I can only imagine. I have not talked with her in over a month, and I have so much to ask her.But have been grateful for letters and a Mothers Day card this past Wednesday. Patience, Patience, Patience.
