Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

The Navy issues their duffle (sea bag). You can bring clothes for hotel wear, but not in public. It is my understanding if you connect with your sailor at the airport as they head for A school, they can be given civilian gear to take if it fits in their bag. I don't know if they have a Navy issue backpack where they could carry items like phone or laptop if you see them at the airport. If anyone had more insight, would love to hear it

I think we bring them some clothes only to be worn in our hotel room. Then we have to take it back home with us. We can bring them their cell phone/computer/tablet but can only give it to them to put in their own duffel bag at the airport before they fly out. That's my understanding. If I'm wrong, please let us know veteran Moms?

I'm not sure. I thought we had to take them a duffle bag with clothes in. Maybe it is just extra. If you find out please let me know. thanks. See you in 7 days whoo hoo can't wait.

Good morning everyone, I have my sailor/daughter and grand baby home now. So good to have them here for a few weeks before they go to CA to join my SIL/Sailor. It is especially good to finally see them and know they are really okay after being in the car wreck last Saturday <3 Thanks so much for all the thoughts and prayers. We really appreciated it.
