~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Tracy, I am ship 14 div 175 too! I've had trouble finding people in that division as well. I mostly use the Facebook site but still read the posts on here to stay updated.

Hello everyone! I am new and wanted to introduce myself. My son is at boot camp. His PIR date is 05/16/14. 8 more days and counting down. I did just RSVP for the meet and greet but my plan arrives late afternoon. I might be there late.

No, actually the brother divisions in this PIR group are:

171/172, 173/174, 175/176, 812/813

900 division doesn't have one.

I enjoy this site and the fb site. I prefer the fb site only because it is easier to navigate and to see postings. I appreciate the admins from both sites as there is a lot of information given and it has been very beneficial.

Just go on. I know there are moms in that div. Just ask. You are in my PIR group. My son is in 174!

Thank you Navy Mom I am looking. I just haven't heard or seen anyone in Ship 14 Div 175 yet. Thank you for responding.

Hi Maureen (and everyone), After my son left, I experienced sorrow that I could only compare to the sudden and unexpected passing of my oldest sister a few years ago. I felt so much grief - and I wasn't expecting it. How could I feel so much grief for my son leaving while at the same time be so full of joy and pride? Well, I thought I was losing it. I went and spoke to a therapist. He gave me this poem, told me what I was feeling was ABSOLUTELY NORMAL, and time would be the only thing to make things better. And he was right, I still have my moments, but it does get better. I hope this poem will help you. *Spoiler alert - It might make you cry.* :) Hang in there. ((Hugs to you))

I See Children As Kites

I see children as kites.
You spend a lifetime trying to get them off the ground.
You run with them until you're both breathless.
They crash, they hit the rooftop.
You patch and you comfort.
You adjust and you teach.
You watch them lifted by the wind and assure them that someday they'll fly.
Finally they are airborne, and they need more string and you keep letting it out,
But with each twist of the ball of twine there is a sadness that goes with the joy.
The kite becomes more distant and you know that it won't be long before that string will snap and the lifeline that holds you together will no longer be the same.
Children, as kites, must be prepared to soar as they are meant to soar. Free and alone.
And only then do you know you have done your job well.
