N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My husband sent me roses today! He never does this. And I got a little message with them. So happy, its like he knew that I really needed to hear from him today.

To glosmom, My daughter had tears of joy also when she squeaked out, hi Mom its me! I ran straightt into a cubby at the hospital where I work. A known dead spot! Thank God we did not disconnect. I had a great talk with her and wrote everything down that I could remember after we got off the phone so I would not forget. I am still on cloud 9 from hearing her voice and finding out that she was alright.

Since I am traveling with a child we chose southwest. It does fly into midway but I needed the two free bags. We are flying in on Thursday so we aren't rushing Friday. Just made our reservations to the navy lodge since we are military! So excited:). And yes when we fly into midway in July there was a TON of sailors!!

Thanks Dianne. I can stay until Sunday I just didn't want to if he would be gone already. I heard that the recruits that just graduated last week, half left sat and half left sun and they can leave from any of the 3 airports! I wish that I knew which airport so I could at least leave from the same. O'hare is the closest airport but southwest doesn't fly there. I want to get to GL asap after my flight lands to see my sailor! I just don't want to wait until last minute and not get the flight I want on Friday. Stressful!!

For those booking flights, check out Southwest Airlines into either Milwaukee WI or Chicago-Midway....no change fee with them (in case your SR is setback for any reason), 2 bags check for free.  Drive to GL is shorter from Milwaukee, about 45 min.  From Midway, it is over an hour.

rachel:  I would book your flight home as late as possible on Saturday, if you cannot stay until Sunday.  Although chances are that they will fly out Sat., sometimes they do not go until Sunday if they can't get flights.  He won't know his flights until right before PIR.  But if you book an evening flight, then you should be able to spend Sat. with him until he leaves.
