OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Ok, let me elaborate... I will be bringing name tags & markers to the meet & greet! I was also thinking (need to check with Sarge) that it would be really fun if people were to make a picture board of their SR. Thoughts? I know some will be flying, we are driving and I can bring addional poster boards if you want to put it together there!

Nice to see some people back on here!  HOOYAH!

MassMom:  Wow---thanks for sharing that....The people of Boston are proving their strength and faith in their city and in each other.  Maybe some of the "good" that comes out of such a horrible tragic experience?  We found this to be true after Hurricane Andrew devastated our part of Miami....neighbors speaking to neighbors for the first time (never got to know them before), sharing food with one another, phones, etc.  It is amazing to see God's Hand in such tragic situations....using the awfulness of it to show us what is really important!  Boston will be "in our sights" for a long time.

And....I know people are donating (or trying to) money to get that couple a new boat!  They may have a yacht by the time all is said and done! :-)   Or...as is typical of so many wonderful people there....they may have the same size boat or smaller....with the remainder of the $$ given to those affected by this tragedy.  I wouldn't be surprised....

to diannep from a few days ago......I live an hour south of Boston.  I know of friends and family members who where there at the finish line Monday and thankfully were not there at the time of the bombing.  However, I cannot say how proud I am to live in this state and to know that we have some pretty awesome state police and officers who cared for and protected all of those in the area of the bombing as well as in Watertown Mass.  They did a phenomonal job and I was so completey thrilled when I saw the news Friday night when they finally apprehended the "suspected" bomber.  A 19 year old boy. Who happened to go to my son's college UMASS Dartmouth.  (My SR's older brother).  It's all still so very sad to know that there are many people who will be affected by this for the rest of their lives. It is truly sad and my heart goes out to all of them.
