~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

puertorico42 it's great, isn't it? I'm going to donate what I can on my next payday. :)  What a wonderful service they are doing for our sailor recruits. I know my son really appreciated it and others in his division were happy to receive one from him.

Here is the website for free calling cards:
http://callsforrecruits.org/
Send an email to the address that's about halfway down the page, and he will email you 8 pin numbers that are each good for at least 20 minutes.
When you get the email, there will be a link on it to get a Word file with little "cards" with instructions on them. you just click on it to open it and/or download it, print it out, cut out the "cards" and write one of the pin numbers on each. Then you can staple them together and your SR can tear them off as he uses and/or gives them away. I sent some with my SR when he left, and he used some and gave some away, and so I just mailed him more. It will take a little while to get the response back once you email, it's not instant because it's done by a person, but you should probably get it tomorrow morning. :)

Hi twodaloo, there is a link somewhere here that explains how you can get free calling cards, I'm sorry I don't know the exact link, but it's pretty easy to find, I'm sure one of the other N4M's can help.  For my daughter, I purchased them at the local drug stor (CVS here in Sacramento), and they were buy one, get one free.  Just be sure that they are not the prepaid cell cards.  They're usually in with all of the other gift cards. If it needs to be activated, do that before sending it, so your SR won't have to.  Also, I bought the reloadable kind, and made copies, so I can check the balance and add to it if needed.  I sent her an extra to give to someone who didn't have one too.  I hope that helps :)

Got a couple of letters from my son today.  Such a blessing.  He wants some prepaid phone cards.  Ideas anybody?  I've never bought one of those.

That is a really small group for the 810 group. I hope you can find some others from the same DIV.
