For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by diannep on March 28, 2013 at 11:28pm: Vicky: Residence does offer a Graduation discount. We stayed there, but missed out on it...however, we used our AAA discount. Enjoyed our stay there. It was a very convenient location, as Sarge said! It is pet friendly too! :-) We also took the shuttle and it worked out great.

Comment by diannep on March 28, 2013 at 11:26pm: Vicky: You will have PIR Day with your sailor, who will have to return to RTC that night around 8 or 9 pm. Your sailor will know! You can then meet your sailor at the airport the next day to wait for the flight. Make sure to take ID with you so you can get an airlines gate pass and wait for the plane to depart. Occasionally they fly out on Sunday if there are no flights on Saturday, but most fly out on Saturday. Your sailor will know flights by PIR.

Can you help shed some light on how long we will actually get to spend with our SR if they are shipping out for A School? I would love to take my son to a Cubs game on Saturday... but don't want to buy tickets if we can't go.

Comment by Coders&Colesmom on March 28, 2013 at 10:55pm: Last May we stayed at the ramada. They also have PIR discount, offered a free shuttle to and from the PIR and had a nice meet and greet. I'm planning on going to Sarge's this year though. So excited!!!

Right now Navy Lodge is under heavy renovations! Said it is very hard to get around... not sure if anyone else has been here lately, but he did discourage this option. Another downside, if you are not renting a car, its very costly to get from point A to point B.

I let him know that I also booked at Residence (full kitchens to bake cookies). He did say that was an excellent location, free shuttle to PIR and walking distance to a lot of eateries. Note: I need to call back because I was told we could get a discount for PIR... I went on the website, so I need to see if there is truly a discount.

Another good option is Springhill Suites. Great location and discount for PIR!

Got my box on Monday and was surprised to get the form letter the next day.
