While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Sarah's mom 14/192 on March 28, 2013 at 8:58am: Thanks everyone for the info. My daughter will be going to Tx as she is a corpsman. If she graduates Friday when can I expect her to leave? Her brothers and sisters will want to see her, does that happen on base after graduation? And should I plan on arriving Thursday evening? When will we first get to see her? Sorry about all the questions! This group is awesome!! :)

Comment by Peanut's mom on March 28, 2013 at 8:48am: Welcome dgsharnas! My son also left on 3/17. I did receive his form letter and his expected PIR is 5/17. As far as tickets... My understanding per the family guide is only 4 tickets for PIR and there is no way to request any additional tickets. I know the Residence Inn has 2 bedroom suites with full kitchens, price is very reasonable as well.

Comment by diannep on March 28, 2013 at 8:44am: dgsharnas: Sorry, but only 4 of your group will be allowed into PIR. Unless you have children 2 yrs old and under (they don't need to be on the list). There are no "tickets" but rather your daughter will list your names on her guest list (will be part of her form letter). She updates this shortly before PIR, but 4 names are the maximum per sailor for this group, which we think will have 10 divisions. Any extras will need to wait at the hotel or another off-base location until PIR is over. It is over about 10:30, but your sailor won't be allowed to leave base for another 30 minutes are so. If your sailor is attending A School in GL, then she will be moving over there shortly after PIR concludes--directly from RTC, which means you can leave base when she is ready to move and meet up with the rest of your group. You can pick her up later in the afternoon at her new base.

They also usually can't mail out letters to you during that time. So hopefully by week 3, you will have a personal letter! But glad you are keeping an eye out for that form letter!

Comment by Sarah's mom 14/192 on March 28, 2013 at 8:36am: Hi. My daughter left 3/19. So I think her PIR is 5/17. 14/192 according to her recruiter. Still waiting for her form letter. Anxiously running to the mailbox everyday. Is everyone making reservations just based on dates? Or have most received their form letters? We have 7 children and Sarah is our oldest; so reservations are a must for us. Hoping she can get enough tickets for all. Does anyone know what the likelihood is? I am frequently checking this website. So any and all info is appreciated. Thanks!

Comment by diannep on March 28, 2013 at 8:07am: ...should add that the MeetandGreets are all "family friendly" (bring children!) and are free....however, Sarge's is paid for out of his own pocket so he does accept donations if you attend his MeetandGreet, but of course, not required! :-)

Comment by diannep on March 28, 2013 at 8:06am: Vicky: Some pick them out of convenience, but Sarge's is the one with the most info and the most food! He orders from various restaurants. You will see piks on his page to the right. He will give you "hints" for arriving at PIR etc. We have always received rave reviews on here about Sarge's MeetandGreet! All of the MeetandGreets are within a few miles of each other.
