While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Look to the right of this page and you will see them listed for the other PIR groups (yours is not listed yet). Flanagans, Ramada, and Sarge's. You can click on any of those and get the info. It is held the night before PIR. Just don't RSVP there since those aren't your groups. They will be posted later.

Looks like this group will have the following divisions in it:

PIR 05/17/2013 TG 27 (187-194, 810, 927)

TG = Training Group

But it seems that I have heard in the past of someone who went to their A School base during liberty weekend and had some time on base with them. Each base will have different rules though....so that is why you need to ask on the Pensacola group.

He wouldn't be able to leave the base, but it is possible that there are on-base visits. I would ask this question on the Pensacola group on here. Those ladies can tell you.

Sadly a lot of recruiters information is based on when they were in boot camp which in most cases was many years ago. A lot has changed since then. According to RTC Sailors don't fly out on PIR day. Most will fly out on Saturday and depending on how many flights are available some may not fly out until Sunday or even Monday. They won't know when they fly out until the week of PIR and maybe just one or two days before PIR. For that reason we recommend you stay until Sunday evening if at all possible. I wouldn't take a chance on going to the A-school base the same weekend as PIR because it is unlikely they would get to spend very much time with you if any at all. When they arrive on the new base they they have to go through indoc to learn all the rules of the base and get set up with there barracks and who is in charge of them. It usually only takes a week or two for them to phase up enough to be allowed to leave base for a few hours but they won't be allowed off base over night until they are in phase three. I am pretty sure puertorico42 meant to say he can't come home until he finishes instead of he will. If you wait a couple weeks after PIR to plan a trip to visit in A-school your Sailor should know their watch schedule and class schedule and then you plan to visit during a time when you will get the most time with him or her :)
