Hi there!
I am the mom of a new sailor who is in ship 02, div 927. His PIR date is 5/18/12. We are interested in other folks who have kids graduation within the same division/ship. This is all new to us so we are pretty clueless!! Where to stay, what to wear??? What to do with him after graduation?? Anyone else feel the same? :) Thanks! Donna

My son is also in this div. can't figure out what he might be doing , as 900 div are the performing divisions!
Really?? See know I am confused! We are from Maryland. My son went in as an undesignated Airman. What about yours? Are you going to graduation on the 18th of May?
Well I found a little more info on the performing divisions. http://www.ehow.com/list_7326104_requirements-navy-rtc-900-division...
I guess if you have a kid that has done music, or has some college, or did ROTC or did Drill then they may get chosen for this. My kid plays guitar but that isn't like marching band. Not sure...??
Bill was in band but hasn't played in 5 years....has college Hmmmmmm......Eagle Scout....I have no clue. can't wait for the 1st real letter. or phone call. Yes we will be going to PIR. We are from Michigan. He is going into Seabee's. Construction mechanic.
Well I guess all we can do is wait for them to tell us something huh? I got 4 sentences on the back of a packet of info a few days after I got "the kid in the box". I still haven't cried but I think that is because I know this is the best place for him to be right now! Life is short... gotta make the most of it!!
I got the 4 sentences on the back of the letter too. Doing good.....etc. And although it is quieter around here, He will do well. He said he was going to volunteer for something. I work at a school with NJROTC. and our instructor was a RDC in the past, so he told our son how to get ready for PT, and to learn the 11 rules of sentury before he got there. Just general stuff. Bill had wanted to go into AF, but at MEPS they would not take him. We got a Dr. report that said there was nothing going on, and the Navy said welcome aboard. We are new to the Navy also. Husband and older son are both AF Veterans. We will just continue to pray until we hear something :)
we'll be driving.....or taking the ferry....With gas prices, that may be cheaper. still need to check into that.
Hi BrendaF!!! Did you get the form letter? There was a pathlet in there that had some information on booking flights... I think there is a code to use to try and get a discount... did you see that??? So did your son perform in band or drill?? I wonder what our kids will be doing in this "performance division"??? I have only gotten the 4 sentences on the form letter so far!! uggg!!!
Our daughter in in this div. She signed on for the hospital corps. We too are waiting for the first "real" letter. The four sentences we got on the form letter included words like "hardest thing ever". We are coming from Oregon for PIR, looks like it will be best for us to fly into Milwaukie. I'm a little overwhelmed by all the internet info on hotels, car rentals, shuttles, etc. Glad for this website to share good experiential information.
I have done a TON of research trying to get the best prices for car rental and hotels! We ended up at the Ramada in Waukegan. There were others that were cheaper but this hotel had a lot to offer. I think the lowest priced hotel in the area was about $45/night and we are paying more like $79/night. We got RentaWreck for about $200 for 5 days. My son is way too cocky in his letters... I knew that physically it wouldn't be much of a challenge but I was hoping they would break him down emotionally... he needs it! We will see how the rest of the weeks go! We are comin up on 3 weeks!!
Have you gotten a "real letter"???? We haven't heard any except the form letter :( Was hoping they would let them call on Easter. Still waiting.
