N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good Morning!

azmom:   Sarge has still not posted the MeetanfGreet links (in EVENTS section, below left on this page) for the May PIR groups.  But feel free to read through one of the April groups for info.  Just don't RSVP there since it isn't your group!  :-)  He should be getting the May groups posted there soon.  He only needs a week before PIR for RSVPs to be in....this is just to give him a general number so he knows how to order the food.  All are welcome at his MeetandGreets, kids included!  The Saloon is closed down to the public during this, so no problems with the kids being there.

Any news about our "Meet and Greet"?

You are too funny, ellen.  But surprised you confessed what you wore to your son's PIR....the sheer blouse and pink pushup bra!  :-)  hee hee....

We were there for PIR in Feb 2010.  Cold, snow on the ground....we were people watching prior to PIR....interesting, even to my then 25 yr old son who usually doesn't say much!  But when the girl walked by in her very short and fancy "nightclub" style dress in heels that had to be at leasat 4-5 in (she was wobbling), he couldn't refrain and said:  OMG!  But the one who interested ME was the middle-aged man, in very short raggedy (strings hanging down...on purpose!) cut off jeans, a faded tank top, and flip flops.  Hmmmm....was wondering how in the world in made the walk from the gate/garage to the PIR Hall without being a frozen sculpture on the lawn?????  It was in the high teens/low 20s at this time!

So, like ellen said, you will see a bit of everything there.  It is important to be comfortable though....and have comfortable shoes on for the walking.  We were comfortable temp-wise in PIR Hall.....I did dress in layers though.  But in May, not sure if that is necessary but I would take a light jacket/sweater in case it is chilly in PIR Hall (if a/c is on).

PomMom, There is no dress code for PIR, and you will see a little bit of everything, but we suggest business casual.

Your Sailors will be in their dress whites so daisy duke shorts, a halter top, and flip flops probably not the best idea. What you have noted is perfect, just don't add a sheer blouse with a hot pink push up bra with your dress slacks, and your dad must wear a shirt.

Rolling laughter

You will be walking a distance, so comfortable shoes is a must, and don't forget you will be climbing and sitting on bleachers.

I wore a nice pair of jeans, with a sweater to my sons PIR, but it was very cold, and windy that weekend. It was in April, but we had to scrape frost of the car windows in the mornings.

Dress comfortable, but nice, definitely comfortable shoes, and you still might want "layers". Take a sweater or a light jacket with you just in case, that darned wind off the lake can be brutal sometimes. It might be 70 something during the day, but night temps can still be in the 40's and 50's

*They have TO stand watch....

Comment by diannep on April 13, 2015 at 10:38am

SMAsmom:  Watch is like "guard duty."  They have I "stand watch" for a certain amount of time....not sure if it is 4 hrs?  They all alternate doing this.  Also, SRs may miss calls if they are at medical, dental, etc....any appt on base.  As far as your SR having time to do her training with her SR "job" in Bootcamp, she will!  They get it all done!
