Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 181 and 182

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

My brother is on ship 11 division 182!  So glad to be here with others who have sailors in the same division.  My mom is not comfortable on the computer so I am here on her behalf so I can relay information to her and get through this together.  I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better.

We aren't sure if we will make it to graduation, bad timing and economy for time off and expenses.  My brother has a daughter so we would love to get her to graduation with one of us.  Has anyone found any great deals for flights?

Kellygray79-  no great flight deals but be sure to check all 3 airports...OHare, Midway and Milwaukee.  My husband and I are able to go and have no problem "adopting" a sailor with no family present.  We would be happy to take him on liberty with us for a hot shower by himself etc. My son is in div 181 and will be leaving for A school in Charleston on Saturday but Friday afternoon will be spent in GL.  This offer is open to anybody who needs it.  Just let me know.

We may have to take you up on that!  How exciting that he is going to Charleston - we have family there and they would love to "adopt" a sailor from time to time for dinner while he is in A-school.  My brother wanted to go to Charleston for school but his career choice kept him in Great Lakes.

Which airport has the easiest drive to Great Lakes?

I just added you as a friend - message me your sailors name so we can send him mail as well!  Can never get too much right?!

Kellygray79. The best flight I have found so far is $336 roundtrip out of George Bush in Houston on United. My son in law flys alot and he said the best rates are usually posted on Thursdays. Be careful because there are cheaper flights but the baggage check it ALOT higher and no free carry on. We planning on checking out the rates on Thursday and booking then. Where in Texas will you be flying from?

Wow that is a great rate!  We are in Midland, TX.  The best flight I've seen is $451 on Southwest and that is flying into Milwakee airport.  That is great to know that the best rates are posted on Thursdays!  I'll definitely check again on Thursday and I'll be sure to watch the baggage cost.  Thanks!

Are you planning to fly to Florida right after graduation to visit him in A School? If that is what you are saying you will not be able to see him for at least two weeks after his arrival, he will have to phase up before he is granted liberty.

Where are you located? I can't afford a flight & will be driving there. If you are on the way, maybe we can "commute"? I will have some room, for 2 people.

Ship 11, Div 181. Does anyone know for sure if the SRs will be leaving for A school on Sat. 5/24?  Concerned about the holiday on Monday and maybe extending our stay to be with our son longer.  Not sure what to do at this point.  Thanks ladies! ;)

what date did your SR get there?

Hi there, Ship 11 Div 182. My son arrived late on March 25 and A school in Mississippi. Any insight as to when he might leave for A-school?
Ship 11, Div 182..Hello all, I'm concerned about the day after PIR also..do we stay or leave. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Haven't made any flight reservations yet as I'm waiting to confirm departure but we're staying at the Red Roof Inn. Glad I've found others assigned here I'm getting so confused at times. Anyway, my sons A school is in Mississippi..love to hear from anyone else.
