Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

just a reminder that Liberty is for daytime only. They must return to base each night.

Correct, Momof3. Those with sailors staying in GL for A School will have Liberty with them on Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon because of Memorial Day! Sadly, those flying out most likely will still fly out on Sat., but possibly Sun.

Navy Lodge rates usually run about $66-$71....I believe determined by whether you have a kitchenette or not.

Just made reservations at Navy Lodge for PIR. I heard that if staying in GL that the sailor gets weekend liberty and that since Memorial Day is a national holiday that they might get that day too.
Does anyone know if that is the case? Made reservations through Monday just in case, thanks

...your son will move over to A School base shortly after PIR, and will call you for Liberty a few hours later. The GL A School students have Liberty until later that night, and then daytime Liberty for Sat. and Sun. also.

Jacob'sMom: Most of those flying out to A Schools will leave the day after PIR. They will be bussed in the middle of the night to wait for flights. You can meet them there and wait with them....with ID, you can get an airlines gate pass.
Once they arrive at their A School, they most likely will be on "hold" for a while before classing up. For different amounts of time.
