~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I don't see how this day could get any worse!  This morning I was told my son would not be graduating this Friday.  I canceled both car reservation and hotel, still trying to work with the airline.

Called PAO back, several times, finally got to speak with someone. She was calling over to my son's ship to have him call.

While waiting for that call, I received a call from the medical ship.  I was told that he would be graduating.  That brought tears to my eyes.

So, called back to the hotel to try and get rooms back.

Got off the phone and my phone rings again, it's my son.  He's calling to tell me he will NOT be graduating.  WHAT???

He missed his PFA, well, he said the device they wear to time said he made it, but the RDC's said no.  So, he didn't go through battle stations and he would not be graduating on Friday.  He is in the FIT Division.  This is killing me.  Why did they not let him call me sooner and let me know?  He was so upset on the phone.

Once agian, called the hotel to cancel reservation.  Just got off the phone with the airlines.  The cancelation fee's are almost as much as the flights.

Ellen, are you serious that he will not go through a PIR?  We won't get to see him accomplish this?  What about pictures, will he still be allowed to purchase them, or did they not even take them?

I feel helpless, I stopped writing him last Friday.  I have the address to the new ship, but how long do you think he'll be there?

Any calls yet for 203/04

Jsmom, Wow, I don't know. They told you he would not be graduating and he hasn't been moved to ship 5? Is his graduation date moving? Like diannep said if it was for not passing his final PFA, and he was moved to FIT it would make sense (although the no phone call doesn't).

You might try calling 847-688-3603 ext 100 that is the number for the ombudsman there in GL. I don't know how much they can tell you, but they may be able to help somewhat.

Like diannep said, I am very surprised that your SR didn't call you, that is supposed to happen when a PIR date changes, for any reason.

I am so sorry this is happening. Please let us know what is going on.

When will they post the Honor grads?

Jsmom I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. I received a letter from my SR yesterday and he said that as of Sunday, some of the SRs were having a difficult time passing the PFA and it looked as though they may not make PIR.  If that is the case I certainly hope you find out today and that your SR is in the FIT Division conquering these challenges. I will pray for you and your SR today.

Comment by diannep on May 22, 2013 at 2:35pm

Jsmom:  Is it possible that he didn't pass his final PFA?  Can you call the PAO back and ask if he is in FIT Division?  It is not often that they "asmo" this late--but sometimes things happen....but some are put in FIT if they didn't pass their final PFA.  This morning would have been his last chance to try and still be at his PIR.  What time did you call the PAO?

I would call them back and see if he is in FIT division.  Hopefully they can tell you that.  If that is true, and he didn't pass today, no, he will not be at PIR.  He will stay in FIT until he passes (as long as he is improving, he gets chances).  They try M-W-F.  He then will do BattleStations and head straight to A School, no PIR.

I am so surprised that he was not allowed to call you.  They are supposed to be allowed to do that any time there is a change in PIR date.  Wow.  If he didn't pass his PFA, they normally allow them to call and tell you that.  And...if he was asmoed for any other reason.....they let them call too.....because here you are, ready to go to PIR and what do you do?

I am so sorry.  To be in limbo like this is so very hard.  I would try calling the PAO back and see if you can get the address where he was moved.  But ask them if was FIT that he was moved into.  Please keep us posted here.

ellen0502 - I need your help!!!  My SR, was supposed to graduate on the 24th.  His division all passed BS and I didn't receive the "sailor" call so I got worried.

Last Monday 5-13 I received a call from him requesting some paperwork.  I sent it on Tuesday 5-14.  I know it was received as I requested a call when they got it.  I have not heard from him since that day.  As y'all say "no news is good news"  Today I called the PAO and was told he would not be graduating and has been moved to a different ship.  It is not ship 5.  I called his recruiter and he verified this.  He told me to call the Onbudsman but I have no idea who that would be, or how to get ahold of them.  I have flight reservations that need to be changed.  I have canceled the hotel and car.

When my son did call on the 13th he did not say anything about not graduating, only to send the paperwork.  Why have they not allowed him to call and let me know what was going on?  I have not received anything from him in the mail either.

Is this truly how the Navy works?

Yep, calls today from 203/204, the last divisions to become sailors in this PIR group!  Congrats to all!

BS should be over for 203 & 204.  God be praised!  Now we wait in hopeful expectation to see what the Lord has done in and through our young men. :-)
