~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Got a call from my daughter today. I have to say she didnt sound as good as she has in the last couple of calls. She sounded very tired and is getting very frustrated with the drama from the girls. She said they were suppose to be able to call us last Wednesday but because of the thunder storms they werent able to go outside. She said Wednesday was a really hard day and she really needed to hear a voice from home. I told her 32 more days and it will be done. So proud of her!
I GOT A CALL!!!!! Did you hear this?!? 3 weeks in to the date and finally a call. He sounded so good and sure of himself. The only thing he wanted was to find out if he was going to get to spend time with his family.
The reason for not calling last week was because he was in sick bay, or whatever it is called. The food is pretty good with lots of choices, he likes the bananas and salad. GO FIGURE!!! No pop available, good idea. He passed swimming and missed running test by 10 seconds but knew he was going to make it next time. Did I say he seemed confident? YES. All these years of trying to build a good sense of self and now he has it. Thanks, Navy.
He talked about exercising and something that sounded like Adidas - that is the hardest to do and they do it every other day. Also standing still for hours. He does watch every 3 - 4 days and there are 90 in his company. They had done weapons handling and thought that was at the end of week 2. My records show Week 2, Day 2.
He likes his bunkmate; sorry mom's I didn't get a name but will next time but can't post it. Or, I will get to meet his wonderful family at PIR for sure. Which one of you will it be?
He is making friends and that makes me happy.
I heard the story of the mom that got a call in the grocery store line. For me two weekends in a row of staying at home for his call and no food in the house. So guess where I was when he called??? I wheeled my basket to the clothing dept for a little privacy and so the clothes would block noise. Still hard to hear but the sweetest sounds of success coming from my baby makes me walk on cloud nine now. These last 5 weeks will be so much easier.
When he first called (area code 847) I knew it was him but I couldn't hear him. So I pulled out my list of questions from my pocket and started with how I was so proud of him and couldn't wait to see him in his dress whites at graduation and make sure he orders Package A for pictures. He listened for 1 minute then hung up and called back. We talked for 6 minutes the second time but he had to get off. This was probably a special call because he missed last week. Did I say I was proud?
Keep your cell phone within reach at all times, even near the shower. What's a little water on the floor? Have that list of questions HANDY by your phone because if your mind goes blank you will miss half of them. He has gotten half of my letters and knows there are many more on the way. He really likes them.
And what did I buy at Wal-Mart? Big binoculars with 16X magnification that tracks birds so I can actually find him in that "sea" of white uniforms.
Thanks to everyone's support, Mom, Always and Forever.
P.S. Wisdom teeth still intact because they already came in
I just got a call from my son!! The call was not rushed and we were able to get a lot of answers to our questions/concerns. He sounded amazing! All he has ever wanted was to be in the military. I could hear it in his voice that he is living his dream. I couldn't be prouder of him at this moment. I hope everyone else gets a call soon.
Wow,I just found out my son will not be on a submarine after all. He had a kidney stone once so that changed things. He is now going to be doing weapons training. The good news for me is that I will be able to have a little more contact with him........
Congrats on the calls!!!
My son just called, and I am still shaking! He said they were going to get 30 minutes, but it turned out to only be 15. Maybe it was 30 for the whole division. I feel so much better. He sounded good. I am so proud of him.
So my son called his dad this time.....That is ok as long as I get a report. He said he sounded great and passed his swimming test again. He told his dad he was going to call me as well but who knows what happened.......Maybe ran out of time or hopefully did not get in trouble.........C'mon May 24th!!!!! Bring it on.....I'm good for a bit now..........More mail going out tommorow.....
Finally got to speak to my son tonight ! He sounded good. I cried when I heard his voice.. I didn't expect that! He only got 8 minutes then his Chief was yelling at him :( States he has changed in the few short weeks there. So proud of him!
