N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My son left 3/27.. I've received two letters and still no phone call... I cling to my phone day and night... His letters do not tell me he lost the privilege to call... I'm not even sure he'd tell me...I like to think he would though...I'm grateful for getting his letters, just sad I haven't heard his voice in almost a month... I know that "no news is good news".. It's just so hard to stay composed when all I can do is wonder if my phone will ring and it will be him... I'm typically a patient person but the has definitely pushed it to the limit... I'm hanging tough...just venting a bit to ease the ache in my heart...

Navymom if you have his address you should write(or if you've written him continue to write) him so he at least gets some loving support from home.

Phone calls are a privilege not a given, they can be given and taken away for any reason, and it does not necessarily mean it is your SRs fault, or that they aren't doing something they should be. "No new us good news", it means your SR is progressing as they should. The only time they are guaranteed a phone call during training is if they haven't passed something crucial at that point, or are getting asmo'd.

Depending on the division they are in, they may not have had enough time, might not have been able to write yet (other things can get in the way), or had watch or duty during writing time.

"NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS", so hang on I bet letters will be arriving soon.

JsMom,  Now I don't feel so lonely.  We can know that they are doing their best and putting their priorities in the correct order. The longer before the first call, the more news they will have for us.

Anna,  Congrats on the letter!  There are no other family members for him to call.  That means he is isolated, but hopefully connected to your SRs. Hope he makes some friends.

Thanks!!!

NavyMom2013: My son is in that division too, and no phone calls.  I don't get it.  He left on the 1st of April.  I wonder the same thing.  I did get a letter on Friday, and for that I'm grateful.  He didn't tell me anything about tests or what's really going on there.  I just want to hear his voice and ask a couple of questions.  I understand completely how you feel.

Don't feel down navymom. He is probably just really busy. I received a very brief letter from my fiancé on Thursday. In it he said he only had about 10mins to write because he had to iron, shower, fold his clothes and organize his section to meet inspection guidelines. You should also check with other family members to make sure they haven't received anything.

Colleen his ship is 3.  I don't know how to get a message without identifying him on this site.  I would like to find out if he is passing the tests the others are taking and in general how he is faring.  It makes me wonder if he has gotten into trouble and phone calling was prevented.  He would never do anything intentional.   I can't imagine why he would not call or write.

Hugs coming your way! What ship is your SR? Maybe you can have another mother who gets a call relay a message to your SR.

Hey guys,

I don't mean to be grouchy but I am starting to get down now for the first times in 3 weeks.  Arrived 4/1/13 and only heard the "I'm here" call.  No letters and not phone call home.  I don't get it.  Just need some hugs right now, please.  Thanks.
