~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Jsmom:  There are actually 2 MeetandGreets the night before PIR, both family friendly (bring the kids!).  Sarge's is from 5:30 - 9 pm and Ramada's is 6 - 8 pm.

As far as the extra day of Liberty because of Memorial Day weekend, those staying in GL for A School will get that extra day since Memorial Day is a federal holiday.  Those flying out for A School most likely will already by out of there by Memorial Day.

  1. Mike803:  Your son will be to the west of me.  I didn't even know they did  Navy training at that Air Force base.  Hope he likes "warm" weather.  I think I read somewhere that the meet and greet is till 11.  If so maybe we'll be able to meet.  Our son will be going to South Carolina.  I called his recruiter and asked if maybe they would get an extra day due to the holiday, Memorial Day, that Monday.  He told me no.  Wishful thinking on my part.

Youngestson, I hope your middle son is doing ok. I am a breast cancer survivor so I understand what it's like to go thru something like that. I was diagnosed Dec 2011 and did 6 chemo tx's and 30 radiation tx's. double mastectomies with Reconstruction. Doing great now and feeling so much better! Prayers to your son!!

Youngestson, I couldn't agree with you more! Amen! There should be some level of respect to have the common courtesy to give us one phone call at least! Where do you live in St. Louis? That is our home town. All of our family is in St. Louis. We left in 2002 and relocated to North Carolina but have lived in South Carolina since 2005. We used to live in St. Charles.

Thanks ellen502.. I just keep hoping the phone will ring and its him...testing my patience... But I'll keep writing him and encouraging him.. 38 days...

youngestson:  Different ratings (jobs) are different enlistment lengths.  My son's friend when in as a Rescue Swimmer....6 yrs....realized in bootcamp that wasn't going to happen for him (he felt he was too old at 30) and changed to something else.  Still had a 6 yr program though.

What is his job?

Comment by ellen0502 on April 15, 2013 at 7:55pm

Nope, he is not doing anything wrong.

In BC "NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS" Not receiving a phone call means they are progressing as they should be with no problems. Phone calls are not a given, they are a privilege that not all receive, even if an a number one recruit. Phone calls are mandatory if something is wrong, asmoe'd, not passing something etc.

Letter writing might not happen if they have watch or duty during the assigned time. They usually have just a few minutes on Sunday at this point, and they may be needing to shine boots or something else in the time allotted.

@NicoleH10 really? well maybe it depends on the base. But the one closest to me is appointment only. I looked on their website and it linked me to the website I shared with you all. Yes, feel free to message me.
